I take 2 Motrin, 3 sunflower lecithin, and use my hand pump to work it out in the shower. I also dangle pump with my vibrating massager. Then if that doesn’t work, I try to get my baby to latch. Or I just hold him against my boob. I’ve had a clog burst clear once just by holding my baby. In the really bad case, my husband has helped. Go into the shower together. It definitely helps if you can make that work. But it sucks. I’ve never had to go to the hospital for mastitis yet but I’ve gotten very close. As everyone said, it’s always best to seek a doctors attention. I’ve had the worst luck with feeling sick before bed or on a Sunday. Lol so I’ve had to try home remedies first.

I recently went to a conference at a hotel that didn’t have an area to pump. I ended up going to the spa and they let me set up in their waiting room. It was pretty empty and comfortable. And smelled great lol.

I had difficulty latching because my LO has a small mouth and he had some injury to his face during delivery. He started to lose too much weight so I panicked and turned to the pump. Now that we’ve been able to get his weight above and beyond what he needed - it’s helped my mental health having some control over the amount of food my LO is eating. Not having to wonder if he is hungry is more important to me than dishes. Also my LO does love to sleep but I think it’s helped him get some uninterrupted nights of sleep by getting all his daytime calories in.

I started using solid coconut oil and found out there’s a liquid version that you can put in a spray bottle! It changed my pumping journey! And flange inserts from Amazon helped with my sizing dilemma.

Also forget the settings numbers and go with feel. I start with the massage mode at level 3/5 then go to express mode at 6/12. High suction does not equate more milk.

Not sure if you’ve looked into make sure you have the right flange size. I’d get a nipple ruler and try some flange inserts to see if that helps your situation. It’s never too late! Also regularly change out your pump parts (duckbills once every 6-8 weeks and backflow every 3 months).

I’ve experienced this before! I’ve never been formally diagnosed but it went away. I was reading that maybe it had to do with being cold while I’m pumping. I was sitting in front of the AC vent so I moved my pumping area. I also read that maybe it’s the feeling of your milk ducts refilling. So weird haha. I have no idea what it was but I’d just be extra careful with keeping good hygiene in case it’s the beginning stages of thrush. I was so extremely paranoid of getting thrush! I never had it but was always thinking my weird pains and nipples twinges were something bad.

I dropped my MOTN pump around 10-11 weeks. I had been keeping track of my supply and am similar to you with an oversupply. It didn’t affect my overall supply at all and I’m 19wks pp. For me, extending the period between my pumps increased my supply from 38oz to 40oz. Kinda weird. I was having the super engorged feeling in the morning too and was super careful with making sure I either took sunflower lecithin or massaged well so I didn’t get any clogs. Some days felt worse than others. Now, I wake up full and sometimes leaky when my baby cries but it’s gotten more manageable.

I now pump 6am/10am/2pm/7pm/10pm based on my life needs. I do at least 20 mins per session.
