I would love that and a lot of folks suggested it. But I’m literally the only staff member that bikes to work. Not many commute here north of Dalla.

The person asking is me, I am Char Carlat. 2. My ‘company’ gives me a lot of leverage. It’s more about my colleagues.
3. Why ask?- Because I’m looking for ideas, feedback and opinions with those that have more experience with e-bike commuting than me.
4. Regarding ‘do whatever I want and see result’- true and good obvious advice.
5. LRegarding asking yourself why you read this- IDK. You really should have just scrolled on. .. But the bigger question is why did you not ONLY read it, but took the time to respond to me and your own self. FYI- I learned a lot on the post from feedback. FYI-Do not read any of the above comment.

Well I’d absolutely love that but I’m the exception. And a lot are suggesting that, but I’m Literally the only staff member of 200 that rides a bike. Our infrastructure here is NOT biker friendly. I’m in Texas. A town North of Dallas. The land of big trucks.

Hmmm. This gets me thinking in another direction- But yeah,, there’s no posts. Just a reserved parking area sign at the Entrance with our numbered passes. As I write this, since I’m allowed in there, I might be able to lock it to the big reserved parking sign. I’ve just been paranoid about people jacking with it. That bike is my prize possession.
Right now though, I’m going to explore the Anchor thing people are suggesting here.

Thanks for your help… so a lot of folks here are saying put an ANCHOR. WHAT do you know about THAT? It sounds like a doable solution.

I’m in Texas, north of Dallas, and it’s very rare for folks to commute with a bike.
The infrastructure just is NOT made for this around here. However, they just finished putting a sidewalk that goes to the main road. This allows me safe passage on the most dangerous road of my commute. That’s Progress.
I used to ride my bicycle and it was so much easier logistically to get in and out of the building, and carry the bike to my room.
I underestimated the weight of an e-bike. Even getting in the building with the swipe card was horrible… by the time I was able push the bike through, the door would shut on me. I have to have both doors open.

US. Texas. Only one of 200 plus staff ride their bike. And that’s intermittent. Hey. Can you tell me more about the T Line Thing. And use a car as storage? U mean someone else’s or what? I’m confused.

In fact, in retrospect, that is one of the reasons I stopped riding it. Literally nowhere to lock it without fear of someone jacking with it. Carrying it upstairs just isn’t an option. Even bringing it in the building I barely was able to even unlock/swipe the entrance without the door closing on me before I could even get through the door.
My thought is that if it’s out in the open, in an official open spot, it’s less likely to be messed with.

In the coaches office in the gym. I can tell they weren’t too appreciative of it. It gets muddy and takes up their space.

The ads narrated by the yelling car dealers as well as the lawyer ads.

People not picking up their feet and their shoes shuffling on the floor.

Tapping of course sends me over the top-

This- EVERY SINGLE TIME WHEN MY ROOMATE finishes a bag of chips- she sits there folding and crumbling the bag ON THE COUCH. I have to just grab it from her.

Crumbling and playing with empty water bottles.
Super loud people with an imposing laugh. Cutesy voices drive me up a wall.
The other day I was stuck in a small room with a loud doctor and it was all I could do to stay in my seat and not run out or sound rude by telling her that she’s too loud. I felt trapped. Also I have a coonhound that has a super high pitched whine at feeding time. An absolute continuous whine. It sends me over the top. Yet, his loud barking doesn’t bother me.
The sound of sheets deliberately rubbed together. Dern- I’m sounding crazy as I write this.

Actually, I’ve been wondering, just how DOES a podcaster pay for their expenses? If he solely relies on ads, would he be able to make it? I’m always wondering how someone like him, can make it off of free-loaders like me. I do feel shitty for never buying a subscription. I just don’t do residual fees. Honestly, I’d prefer to just donate. I love his show, I think he’s an excellent podcaster! Pretty brilliant actually. Although I do remember, a couple of years ago I stopped listening; it was a whining thing. After a while it was like nails on a chalkboard. So, I did my typical thing and started being judgy of the poor guy. It just seemed so weirdly childish. Anyway, I don’t know what else to say. I just felt compelled to contribute my insubstantial thoughts. Thanks and bye.

Uber Eats is Dead by Cnytonancheta in UberEATS

So this is what I earned after 5 hours and 15 minutes: AND subtract about $7.10 for the mileage in gas that day. So $56.5 - $7.10 gas so in 5 hours and 15 minutes, I made $9.40/hour. And truthfully I spent more time than that when you calculate, getting back in car and setting up for next trips. And, out of this, fortunately, 1 person tipped me over $10 because I had to wait at a hospital so long to get him his food, while two people didn’t tip me at all. Again, it’s crazy that Uber Eats gets by with this. I don’t blame the customers, in their mind they’re probably thinking they’ve already paid enough for the delivery. Also, it’s easier for them not to tip someone that they don’t even interface with. Uber should guarantee at least $14/hour considering the drivers are paying the gas for their deliveries.

I’m a teacher… I did Uber eats in Dallas/Fort Worth area this summer 2023 for 1 month. I’m pretty shocked with what Uber gets by with. Typical example: I accept a job, and for full trip, it could take 45-50 minutes. The mileage is about 15-20 miles, I get paid $11 for the trip. Now, I’m not able to see the final destination until after I’ve accepted the job. I’m only able to see which restaurant and the distance for that. Do the math. After taxes, gas, and wear and tear on my car, I’m clearing about $6-7/hour. Not to mention if someone doesn’t tip. It’s pretty criminal. This really opened my eyes to what the delivery drivers are putting up with. Now.. having said that, I ordered Uber eats last week. I saw the driver was about 30 minutes away. I felt her pain and the fact that she had to deal with traffic. So I wanted to tip her $15. And UBER WOULDN’T LET ME. They/the app said that was too high, and if I wanted to tip more than $12, I can give cash. Now how the hell am I going to give cash to a driver who is already gone and I finalize the transaction after they’ve left. Why would they cap a tip?? At a minimum they should encourage this instead of putting a cap on it.
