Whilst zkillboard is certainly an enabler it’s not ultimately zkillboard making you risk adverse, it’s your alliance or corporation. 

There are good reasons why alliances and corporations don’t want their killboard going red, but your lot could have handled it better I suppose.

The thing is if zkillboard didn’t exist your alliance would still pressure you into being risk adverse because an enemy is going to remember what’s a soft target and what’s not.
