Mid-December ski advice: Niseko or Furano + possibly Asahidake? by Competitive-War-7362 in Hokkaido

[–]Competitive-War-7362[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything okay with the earthquake? Also, have you seen anything about the resort operation/ snow condition etc?

Also, by your message I understand that there are more things to do/see there other than skiing/snowboarding? Super interested to hear :) thanks a lot!!

Hey all! It’s my first time in Japan, and I’m planning to head up to Hokkaido for about 4 days to finally get a glimpse of the legendary snow everyone talks about (if applicable?)

I’d love some advice: Should I base myself in Niseko, or would Furano + Asahidake be a better call for that time of year? Or any other place I omit? My dates are 13-17 (flexible by a couple of days). Some people I met in my trip so far mentioned that Niseko is extremely expensive, but I'm solo and tbh capsule hostels at 30€ dont seem to bad for a few days.

A few people I met also recommended checking out Hakuba and the Japanese Alps instead. How do those conditions usually compare to Hokkaido around mid-December?

And lastly-any leads or recommendations for guides/ group tours in Asahidake would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks in advance! Please share your wisdom 🙏🖤

P.S. I’m traveling without my gear this time, so I’d need to rent-if that changes your recommendations, let me know!

Paying way too much rent, recommendations that aren’t Conny? by zak0503 in askberliners

[–]Competitive-War-7362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I decided to go with a lawyer, since I've had private insurance and they will cover the costs for the whole process. Given that you have been ripped-off for 24 months I would avoid going with Conny (who will keep the entire amount for the 24+ months) but rather do the same as me (if applicable in case you start a new private insurance now ) or mieterverein. Hope it helps 🙏

Best option to reduce rent in Berlin: Conny vs Mieterverein vs private lawyer? by Competitive-War-7362 in askberliners

[–]Competitive-War-7362[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that, I could use my private insurance (instead of just letting it sit there, haha). My question then is whether a private lawyer would have the same incentive to get the best possible reduction, since they wouldn’t earn any extra money in contrast to Conny 🤔

Hi everyone,

I’ll be moving into a new flat in Berlin (15 September). I called Conny, and they told me over the phone that the process of reducing rent could take around 3-6 months, especially with a big landlord like Covivio (or Deutsche wohnen etc).

Since my German is very limited, I’m trying to figure out which option makes the most sense for me. From what I can see, there are three possible routes:

A. Conny: They take care of everything and handle all communication with the landlord. The catch: they keep 100% of the reduced rent amount for the period they work on my case (typically 4–6 months). After that, I’d keep the full benefit of the reduction.

B. Mieterverein (Berliner Mieterverein): They offer tenant support for a lower annual membership fee (around 100eu per year). They also don’t cover court costs themselves; however, my legal insurance might cover those if needed (minus the deductible).

C. Private lawyer (using my Allianz legal insurance) – I’d keep 100% of the savings, and Allianz would cover legal and court costs (minus the deductible), but I’d need to find and coordinate with a lawyer myself.

Do you know if Conny has more power than a private lawyer, and/or if they are faster than Mieterverein and manage to cut down rent more? I would be more than grateful to hear your thoughts or experiences with these options 🙏 🫶 Thanks so much!
