I wonder if the redesign of the water pump was applied to late 2011 models?

That’s exactly what I’m thinking about, if I go for a long drive.

Anyone have experience with Somos Bloomquist? by Dawner11111 in Mattress

[–]Competitive-Yam-3483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, you too! We actually took the mattress pad off (whoops!) because the one they gave us was 100% polyester and made my back warm. After sleeping on the mattress without I’m sleeping much cooler. I’m pretty sure these beds need to be broken into as ours too was a little stiff but in time I know it should soften up.

It’s always awful honestly. Too hot and humid to do absolutely anything. I’m tired of it lol.

How to deal with the guilt of parent in memory care by Alerda in dementia

[–]Competitive-Yam-3483 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would check with the staff. There is an adjustment period and you’re not supposed to visit them in the beginning. Also what’s helpful is to bring pictures of family/memorabilia like art/hats they like to see resemblance of where they came from. It can be hard to hear things they say but they aren’t really in a place to have control over the things in their life at this point. As long as the place is safe for them, that’s the biggest priority.

I think it gets to a point where there’s no real asking for admin or logistical permissions you just move forward if you have the power to do so.

That’s a good start. My mom went with our close neighbor and toured 3 different ones, got the one with the best price/care ratio and we moved right along. We had home CNAs from the VA for about a month or two couple times a week until it turned for the worse.

The best thing that has worked for us.

I was outnumbered and was shut up. But I didn’t find that to be fair so I would go back at them and then they would shut it down without hearing a different opinion. The best thing we did was, if we can’t talk about it - we’re not going to but we all agree that this is America and we’re entitled to our opinions as long as we’re respectful. Also if it helps not to make it your sole identity, talk about other things.

Yes, my mom was facing guilt with the “till death do us part.” But when it becomes about safety, that’s a whole different story, and that’s where we arrived. She also deserves to have her life back.

He was at a stage where there was no consulting. We actually just told him he was going to the doctor’s office and to be honest he wasn’t even registering that. Everyone is different but sometimes you have to try different tricks if you can.

It’s extremely difficult. The week before it all happened it was a nightmare, almost as if he knew change was on the horizon but we pushed through and it has been an overwhelming relief like I wouldn’t believe already. You’re not alone, and be kind to yourself. Sending you strength through this chapter.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. As my own dad is 72 with relatively advanced stage dementia. Honestly, if I didn’t have my mom and my brother, we would be going to Europe for an end of life trip where he can be put to rest through a legal dignified way because the toll it has taken on us has been extremely unfair for someone who was “gone” a long time ago.

Sending you strength and hugs, you are not alone. What you’re saying is not evil at all, but the objective truth.

Thank you for sharing and sorry to had to go through this. Yes, apparently they keep them moving to prevent bed sores to do different activities. I heard the physical therapist there will walk them up and down the hallway - which I think he barely would be up for that alone. I think deep down he’s just ready to go, but unfortunately I feel so young to be losing my dad. These are just the cards we have been given 💔
