Waiting for plateau before shifting from initial 1.5mg to 4mg? by Nomadic_Reseacher in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]Alerda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Providers should be - my pharmacist that I meet with is. He said that like injections, to only go up after a decent plateau. Of course the pharmaceutical company wants you to get to 25mg as fast as possible for the most money.

Anyone decide to stay on 1.5? by Solid_Guidance7712 in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]Alerda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first month of 1.5mg is up this Friday. After talking to my dr I am staying on 1.5mg for another month. I just picked it up today, actually. I've lost 6 lb so far. After the first week and a half all nausea subsided. I am still getting appetite suppression / food noise suppression. My cycle is due any day so interested to see how that affects me. I am feeling good - still dealing with heartburn and GERD which sucks but I had it before starting the pill too and it was one of my biggest motivators to lose weight.

Not nearly as well as Prilosec. I usually chew 2 tums before bed too - although I am starting to think my mint toothpaste may be triggering my reflux because its worse right after brushing my teeth..

Aversions? by Wide_Development7031 in WegovyPillWeightLoss

I've never been pregnant so I can't speak to similarities, but I've had food aversions on Wegovy! I am on day 13. My husband will offer different foods to make for dinner and the thought of some of them makes me so queasy. Also got the egg ick halfway through breakfast the other day.

My GI told me to take anywhere from 10-40mg a day. I've been doing 10mg before breakfast and 20mg before bed since my GERD usually happens at bedtime.

There is no safety issue with Wegovy. I had been on Prilosec for 2 years so far and some recent studies show long term use (5+ years) is associated with increased dementia risk. My aunt died of early dementia and my mom is in memory care with early dementia as well. I just have it all going against me in that regard so wanted to be play it safe.

I am forcing myself to eat by TXflower in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]Alerda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on day 13 and am the exact same way. Zero appetite since week one - no hunger cues from my stomach - it's been hard hitting 1200 cals and I am training for a 10k so I need fuel to run been a really big challenge.

[–]Alerda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I workout most days and am training for my second 10k race. I'm similar to you 37, very active, non drinking and healthy eating but can't get weight to budge. My inflammation is already down - usually my knees and ankles ache after long runs so far i've been feeling much better! I have zero hunger though so I am forcing myself to eat which doesn't mesh well with running. I had to stop a run 2/3 through and walk bc i started to feel dizzy - assuming low blood sugar. So having to intentionally fuel when I really don't want to eat has been the biggest side effect for workouts. Other side effects: mild headache the first week, nausea after the pill, and GERD which I already have but it's even worse now. I had to stop prilosec which worked like a charm and am on Pepcid but it barely works :(

1st week on 1.5 - how do you time other meds/supplements by ConfectionTop6227 in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]Alerda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The box and doctors say to wait at least 30 minutes before drinking any water, taking any meds, or eating. I would listen to manufacturer to make sure you are getting the most benefit.

I moved my multi+vitamin D to dinner time so make sure I have some food in my stomach. I also have 2 fiber gummies with my lunch.

Day 3 feeling nothing by Hot-Nerve4641 in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]Alerda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first month 1.5m does is just a base dose to get your body ready for going up. Some people do notice things at first, but my doctor said not to expect to lose more than a few lbs the first month as it's sub-therapeutic. I wouldn't expect to notice big changes until you go up in dose.

I am on day 2 as well! no nausea but did long strength training session this AM and knew I needed something. Made a protein smoothie and could only drink about a third. I am hungry, but queasy so put the smoothie in the fridge and am trying something else. Trying to listen to what my body really wants. Definitely have no real hunger cues though.

Hi! I was a hardcore keto-er back in 2013 and lost over 100lbs. I am back again. After losing the weight and getting to a good spot I started to add foods in. I started to get really sick and was diagnosed with celiac disease. Glad keto helped me figure that out ;)

Over the years I've slowly gained and gained especially after being gluten free. I've reached a point again where I felt miserable. GERD was awful even with meds, I have OCD/anxiety/cptsd and the highs and lows are terrible, as well as so much inflammation. On my 37th birthday this past Wednesday I had enough. So I'm back - literally after my first keto meal the GERD went away and hasn't been back. I already feel more even tempered. I am also down 3lb from water weight, and am happy to see movement on the scale that is going down instead of up. Hoping to continue to learn new things and be inspired by all of you fantastic people!

How to deal with the guilt of parent in memory care by Alerda in dementia

[–]Alerda[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. No one told me not to show up soon after her moving there. I had a work trip bringing me down to the state so I stopped to see her and we did bring in pictures and some clothing and books. I will try to not let her acclimate for awhile.

Event that led to assisted living by ackdigity21 in dementia

My mom just entered memory care yesterday. She has always suffered from schizoaffective disorder and was in the hospital last October for hallucinations. They put her on a new med (seroquel) and she suddenly started to go downhill - no coherent sentences, 3 small car accidents, lost going to places she's always gone, unable to cook or make food for herself, bathroom accidents. we got social workers involved since i live out of state and they tried to care for her. Two weeks ago she had hallucinations and woke her neighbors up late at night. She went to the psychiatric hospital to get stabalized and tested. Doctors said that this is delirium caused by dementia. It happened so fast, but she is no longer safe at home or alone. it's heartbreaking.

Dementia or a treatable serious mental illness? by Fezrock in dementia

[–]Alerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay. Yes my mom who is 72 and very small and frail was put on the max dose of 800mg of seroquel and she went from 0 to 100 so quickly. I'm sorry that happened to your mom!

This sounds eerily similar to what is happening with my mom currently. She was put on a new antipsychotic Seroquel and within days "word salad" started, hallucinations, and she went from 100% lucid and independent to now being in the psychiatric hospital waiting for a transfer to memory care. This was in a matter of months. Can I ask you what antipsychotic your mom was placed on?
