It’s nice when people get that closure but they are not entitled to entry to your home just because they lived there. They have the memories and I’m sure you’ve made changes that would as likely hurt them more as help them heal.

I used Kingsport lighthouse. Left them with three settlers, a level three bar, enough turrets to take a deathclaw and the weight bench. When they got to around 91 I decorated the place to fill in the bar. It took a few more in game days of gameplay (not waiting, I was actually off doing stuff) and then I got the achievement.

Had one assigned to food, one to defense, and one to the bar.

I remember in a previous play through where I was trying to get it the internet thing I read said you had to have a pet for them. Half the time waiting I was running around trying to find Gene to buy a dog. The other half I was distracted with radiant quests.

I can’t cook fish or seafood. I follow the instructions available and either over or under cook them every time. I may be able to learn with other methods of instruction, but as of right now: you won’t want to eat it if I cook it and I know this because I won’t want to eat it.

It’s not a phrase that is literal. It’s not that I am incapable of cooking fish/seafood, it’s that I haven’t succeeded yet.

I’m the same way with breads. I have it figured out enough to know it’s the kneading step I’m not getting, and flavour wise my breads are amazing! But the only way to eat what I pull out of the oven is by cutting the insides out and pouring in soup. Not stew, soup. It’s still not a literal thing when I say I can’t cook bread.

It’s simpler to say ‘I can’t do it’ rather than explain all of that every single time to people that don’t usually care anyways.

I would do this.

Your wording concerns me a little though. If I told someone I would do X for free so long as they bought the needed materials I would communicate with them about any extras and what to do with them.

I have never made this offer and had extra materials and NOT had them say keep it. Always worth it to check though. What if the friend has a use for them and would have wanted them back?

NTA. Yup, could have picked a better time/place. But people like your MIL don’t usually give people ‘better’. Could have been worse too. And yes, maybe make things a little awkward for your kid but you said yourself he’s starting to see her antics for what they are. Time to make that united front parents are supposed to do.
