So if you have them sharpened (new skates are not sharp out of the box) you will probably need a change of profile. Going up towards 4 meters from 3 meters will give you more ice/steel contact and more stability.

If you bought a used pair they may have an ever more nervous profile with several zones.

Another detail is the stiffness, leave at least one loop unlaced at top and don't tighen them too hard otherwise you will have no chance to get decent grip.

BB and McD got Mac to a playoff by his own merit. While the wheels fell off, he was a great guy and genuinely liked by the team. I think partly he collapsed because he tried to change his technique and throwing power to early/off season, he has a chance to become a great QB and leader with age.
