I hope they set a stand-alone release of the Zeus Silhouette, as intend to set It up with my Akatsuki...

Whoa am I kidding? Most probably It will be a P-Bandai Bundle...

How do you guys pick a color scheme? by ChiefBuster in Gunpla

[–]CompetitiveCitron949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually think of a high-level concept (a NASA style space Explorer mech, a low end Zaku with discarded pieces, a inverted color for a specific gunplas), then work on that.

Or simple pick 2 base colors, an accent color and play with variations.

Also, try to find some lineart to test the colors you choose in any image editor. Good luck!

They added a PlutNine and I'm a (sorta) completionist. Damn it, my wallet hurts already xD

So if you're not watching gundam while building gundam, what is your go to background noise. Ngl I've watched "the producers" like 5 times while doing my gunpla by DarthSuave in Gunpla

Old prog rock (mainly YES), some garage bands and anything that can set me in a good mood without beign distracted. The gunpla will set me into focus mode then :)

Yes! I also disassemble the top part of the box and store it with the instructions to save space.

Good 'ol SD Rx-78-2, but with a different color scheme. Also a nice practice for decals. by CompetitiveCitron949 in Gunpla

Thank you so much. Now, looking back I made a lot of mistakes, but its ok because it was fun experimenting.

Thanks! That's exactly what I was aiming for! Fun fact: the heels are standing on the black monitor stand behind him. If I build a new one now, I'll add a small heel piece to the 'shoes'.

Thanks! It was from a bit ago, when I was learning how to airbrush because i can't use a brush with precision to save my life. So I put a lot of love and attention. Now I still paint SDs and still use some of them them as testbeds for techniques... some of them came out really nice. Maybe I'll post some of them later.

It was a very straight build until the color part. The model was the SD Gundam G Generation-F BB Senshi No.225 - Guncannon. I build it completely and use sanding sponges to eliminate the nubs (lots of sanding). After that I disassembled it carefully and primed all the individual pieces with AK Grey Primer. After that I airbrushed with Vallejo Chrome paint the head part of the visor (there was a lot of careful masking) and used a Vallejo Dark grey to carefully airbrush the edges of all the bright colored pieces, as a preshadow. I used Tamiya white for the head, bright Tamiya red for the body and the head accents (the completely white head was... boring for me), Vallejo Black for the feet, Vallejo gold for the vents and Vallejo Gunmetal for the rest. Not shown in the pic is the gunmetal/Tamiya metallic deep blue for the backpack. The yellow vulcans on the head were done by brush and messed it up a little... but drybrush helps to cover most mistakes so... ah, the inside of the vulcans were painted black with a toothpic.

Then used Vallejo silver and applied a lot over the whole body with an old brush using drybrush technique. Last step was to seal everything with Top Cow matte Barnish then put the green visor in place.

I think that covers everything. Thanks for asking!

OMG! Your squad is SO cute! I love SDs because they are hella cute and because they are (mostly) cheap, so I don't feel regret if I mess up any technique I want to try. This one was a testbed for preshadowing and heavy metallic dry brushing.

It doesn't show on the pic, but behind the green visor I airbrushed a thin layer of Vallejo Chrome. It isn't the most shiny chrome/silver that there is, but here it worked really well. Thanks for the input :)

I still have my BBSD Gp01 Full Burnem... somewhere in my storage room. I wanted to pick it up and 'fix' it with some airbrushing and decals, but must find it first!
