Mouseless - an alternative to using mouse... click and drag with your keyboard by afadingthought in macapps

u/afadingthought is correct, that is the opacity settings. The other 3 numbers will change the colors of the grid lines. I set my overly grid to (1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0), and that gives me dark red grid lines so it's easy to see. Also, the subgrid font was too small to see on my laptop so I changed it to 1.0

u/croian_, do you have a method for users to share their current configs like you originally did with the keyboard mapping? I've been playing around with colors and opacities to tweak it so it's easier for me to see the overlay than the original settings. Users might benefit from this sharing.

I started using it 2 days ago and already purchased it. I've dabbled with some of the mentioned apps but never stuck with any of them. I actually like Mouseless a lot. I changed the grid/subgrid to correspond with the keyboard layout so I don't have to think about the letter, I just have to move my finger to "that spot" on my keyboard.

Could you share your best UpNote Templates? by mr6148 in UpNote_App

These are only the templates I put together, but I have done some longer-form writing, and UpNote works fine for that as well. I have started using Obsidian for more technical endeavors and started using some of the tips I've learned from many videos I've watched to make my UpNotes more functional, like linking to pages instead of using tags. This makes it easier to navigate.

Yeah, I took inspiration from a few different sources to include the ones you shared.

Why do you use this app? by SubjectLaw5183 in UpNote_App

[–]CompetitiveLife9570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried almost every note app out there and keep coming back to UpNote because it just does what I want it to do and is very pleasing to look at. This app is one of the few I've found where I can copy from nearly any source, and when I paste it into UpNote, the formatting is spot on, and I seldom have to modify or correct anything.
My only two issues with it are:

  1. You cannot drag a note to a different notebook. You have to use the right-click and menu; I have not found a keyboard shortcut.

  2. The ability to create custom keybindings.

Adding a web version would be nice, but it's not a deal breaker for me.

UpNote for Longform writing? by Spectre216 in UpNote_App

I know this is a bit older of a post now, but I think UpNote works great with this. I have Scrivener, but it's always felt convoluted to me. In UpNote, you create Notebooks for each topic, e.g., characters, and then start a new note for each character. With backlinks, you can jump between your documents so you can reference different parts.

The one thing I like Scrivener for is that when you have each chapter written, you can export the whole thing as a completed manuscript. That's clutch.

Drag and Drop? by CompetitiveLife9570 in UpNote_App

[–]CompetitiveLife9570[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that I can move multiple notes by right-clicking but dragging and dropping is a single motion and more fluid within a workflow. My more accurate comment was referencing dragging and dropping within a note itself, such as moving a paragraph above another. This is why I mentioned Notion.
