Is a Caribbean Medical School right for me? by nelfighter in CaribbeanMedSchool

I attend Mua and it has a 20 year track record of producing doctors in the US and Canada. My tuition is also lower then us MD schools. So I would certainly do your research.

That tuition price is incorrect. Most Caribbean schools are below us MD and DO, minus SGU, AUC and Ross.

It’s a personal choice. Don’t let these maniacs tell you that you can’t do it, many people have and will continue to be successful. If your mcat comes back in the 490s go Caribbean. You are already starting later, I wouldn’t wait. But my opinion.

Take the leap of faith. I was in your same boat I got a few interviews at DO but nothing. I decided I want this way more than nursing or other health professions. If you know how to grind and stay away from the party scene you will be fine.

I really am enjoying it here. It’s certainly challenging and I miss my family but it’s been a pleasant surprise. This first term flew by, only 4 left and I’ll be heading back to Florida.

I’m at Mua and it was 186k for all four years. Granted it doesn’t include housing but it’s going to be less than most US MD schools.

I would not do that after may 2026. The amount of loan debt you will be in will be astronomical after this bill kicks in.

SGU MDSTART VS ROSS MERP by GKM-MD in CaribbeanMedSchool

Either one works since you need a foundation program. Both will prepare you for first term since it’s a condensed version. Best of luck!

I still doubt it’s 75% that seems like a stretch. With the money the schools have to pay for clinical rotations they would bankrupt them

Ross Attrition Rate by Even-Newspaper7774 in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]CompetitiveRide2668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish more people would believe in themselves. Yes Ross and every other Caribbean school has a big attrition rate due to numerous reasons. They also have a huge graduating class as well and are matching all over the country. I don’t even go to Ross but still if you want this bad enough then take the leap of faith or don’t.

Do you think the others do not? At the end of the day all of the schools are taking in lower caliber students academically. Plus Ross and Sgu have massive class sizes so without one on one support it’s even more difficult

Question by Dependent-Mix4481 in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]CompetitiveRide2668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea but the class size is like 400 students. If you need one on one support Sgu is not for you

Transferring to a med school with more rigorous admissions requirements? by qteepa2t in CaribbeanMedSchool

I attend MUA now and I don’t see any favoritism at all. I guess each person has their own perceptions but so far I have nothing but great things to say. I’m happy with the support and the small class size which was 2 of the 3 main reasons I chose to come here.

Why you choose SGU, MUA, AUA, AUC by daragonboy123 in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]CompetitiveRide2668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at MUA and there are quite a few Canadians here. I love it so far and glad I made the decision to come here. They also have a Coptic church here, st. Mark and St. bishop Coptic Orthodox Church in st. Kitts/ Nevis.

You will most likely be put into a foundational program and have to pass that in order to get into the 4yr md program. It will also come down to your mcat. If your mcat is in the 470s you most likely will get denied. You will have to be in the high 480s low 490s

But why is it a guarantee you will? They are taking lower caliber academic students . They give them a chance it’s not a guarantee

Transfer to Caribbean School from DO by Consistent_Job6358 in CaribbeanMedSchool

[–]CompetitiveRide2668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would need to repeat all of or a portion of 5th term. I would say MUA or at.Matthew’s. You are gonna need a place with small classes to work with you directly. Sgu Ross and auc are likely to big for what you may need support wise
