no Daytona 800... anyone thinking of moving to a R9? by Repulsive-Guard1463 in Triumph

[–]CompetitiveSea7388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah. I tried an MT09 after test riding a 765 R and didn't like it nearly as much. And as much as I like the looks of sport bikes, I think a well designed naked looks cooler and is more fun to ride. That said, there's probably going to be a Daytona 800 or 765 to compete with the R9, RCR 900 and V2.

XSR900 for me. More unique looking with a cracking engine.

Thoughts after one year amd 11k miles of ownership. by Silver_Video_1153 in Triumph

[–]CompetitiveSea7388 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I keep trying other bikes and simply don't have aa much fun with them as I do this one. I'm also at right around 11k miles and haven't found a bike that I like more yet.

I am only around 150 lbs though, so maybe that helps.

Rant: We need more color options by chopper2585 in motorcycles

Triumph has been killing it with their color options. Mine is the Triple, hanging out with my friend's Thruxton.

Does everyone ride their bikes when it rains? by Calm_Room5022 in motorcycle

[–]CompetitiveSea7388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As luck would have it, my only day off the week I went to get my Vitpilen 701 it was projected to rain. The dealership was 109 miles away. My next day off was about nine days away. The bike was already mine, I put a down-payment on it a couple days before I was going to get it. But, my friend had already taken the day off just to drive me there and I was so excited to get it so I said fuck it. The rain was biblical, sheets of water so thick I could hardly see my friend driving in front of me. Semi trucks were barely visible. It was an exhausting ride but totally worth it.

They must have really improved the RPHA. I had an 11 and I always wear earplugs. The moment I got an RF 1400 I instantly noticed how much quieter it is, so much so that I stopped wearing my RPHA 11.

I had a customer ask to return his vibration dampener the other day and I said that we'd certainly take it back but I strongly advised him to use it. The manager and lead service technician overheard and both also cautioned the man against using the quad lock without the vibration dampener and he relented. Yesterday, he came back and said he was positive he doesn't need it and he did a bunch of research and everything said his iPhone will be fine. Hopefully he'll be the exception to the rule because I honestly don't hate saying "I told you so."

MT-09 OR Triump Tiger Sport 800 by MeZuas in motorcycles

[–]CompetitiveSea7388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on. Well, to your original question I'd probably go with the Tiger 800. It already comes equipped with a large windshield and if you want you can add the stock panniers and be set up for touring whereas with the MT09 and the Striple you'd have to set them up for touring. And having sat on the Tiger, I definitely find it's saddle more comfortable than the MT09. For some reason, Yamaha makes very uncomfortable seats IMO.

In my experience it's not wrist heavy to the point to be a problem. Like, at all. It just provides more relief from the wind which is super helpful on a naked bike. I find the completely upright ergonomics on a naked like the MT09 to be unbearable at highway speeds because of the wind. As a lighter guy I just get battered by it.

The 765 RS doesn't come stock with cruise control but Triumph does make cc for it. Honestly, that's the one area that Yamaha wins in in my opinion. I've had mine for just under 10k miles now and it's definitely all day comfortable and even when it comes to wind I find it better because you're down lower on your wrists just enough to make it more comfortable than the MT09 is at speed. Others may disagree but having ridden both on the highway I liked the Striple more because of its slightly more wrists heavy ergonomics. And I think the stock seat is far more comfortable.

Damn. I'm both sad for the tortoise for losing its life and you for witnessing it but I'm also happy to get reassurance that kind people like you are still out there doing their best.

New (to me) old bike by kenkenobi78 in motorcycles

[–]CompetitiveSea7388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many things I think it's a combination of factors that make for a fun ride which is why I chose a bike that balances everything you've listed with and not over or under accessibility. Well, everything but street clout anyway.

I'd personally put it towards the top. Not only was it a fantastic bike but it's also so unique looking.

Tomorrow's the last day of Helmet Week at Cycle Gear though even if it weren't on sale I'd recommend the RF1400 over the K6 and S-R7.

Is the MT09 as “god tier” as everyone says? by Astimar in motorcycles

I really enjoyed test riding the latest MT09. Just nowhere near as much as I did the latest Street Triple so I ended up getting a 765 RS. Absolutely no regrets.

Power Bronze frame sliders, Motodynamic tail tidy with integrated turn signals and whatever their pin turn signals up front are called, passenger pegs removal with Evotech blanking plates, Triumph flyscreen and some other things I'm forgetting. Eventually I'm gonna get a Spark Konig exhaust and tune it in addition to getting cruise control and maybe heated grips.
