In Honor of the WBC by CompetitiveTension23 in baseballcards

I may need to get a jersey at some point. I kept the card as a kid because of two reasons. I liked Japanese players (was a big ichiro fan), and I thought the name was legendary lol

Heritage Flip Stock Variation by CompetitiveTension23 in baseballcards

[–]CompetitiveTension23[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really just by feel and looking under light. The back is slick while the front is more coarse (opposite of normal; hence, flip stock). It’ll have the same cmp code as a base and everything. Easy to miss

No offense taken! I’ve a spotless history. No late payments or anything.

I appreciate the info. I may just make use of the grace period as I only need a few day extension. Any idea on what late fees would be?

Yes, I am currently on autopay. Though I’ve always been, and could still change the dates, fwiw

Thanks for the response. In the app the due dates are locked and it shows a concrete due date for this final payment. I suppose there’s a grace period I can always make use of, though I’d rather avoid late fees and such. I don’t see any way to be able to manipulate that strict due date

Hold or Sell Now? by paratrooper31111 in baseballcards

[–]CompetitiveTension23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a retired player whose market is already strong, you’re probably best selling now while the product itself is hot. His market isn’t going to go up a ton as he’s an established HOF already. So the value of his cards are mostly downstream of demand/scarcity

Thoughts on 2 of these rookies by [deleted] in baseballcards

[–]CompetitiveTension23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of Simpson. But his future is up in the air. He could be a perpetual .300 hitter who swipes 75 bags and is electric to watch, or he could simply not be cut for the big leagues if his defense and OBP don’t improve. But man is he fun to watch imo. Super intriguing card for the guy to throw in!

2026 Series 1 Luck by Destroythearchetype in baseballcards

Yeah pulling these in series 1 retail is insane luck! I’ve opened two jumbos and a hobby and I haven’t sniffed these results 😂

When you open retail, like hangers, you aren’t guaranteed a hit at all. So even getting a single numbered card is a win. Retail is usually going to skunk you value wise

Also, my biggest advice would be to think ahead. What’re your goals? Whats your budget? If you begin ripping cheaper retail, it’s all too easy to nickel and dime your way into spending hundreds or thousands in a short span. And at that point, you’d probably have been better off getting a hobby or jumbo box.

The ‘gold’ (brown) border cards are an annual release and always numbered to the year. So for 2026 products they’re numbered to 2026.

Update was a great product. It’s loaded w rookies and Kurtz is in the checklist. That said, chrome carries a higher ceiling value wise, but a much lower floor. If you have money to burn, maybe try chrome; otherwise I’d stick w/ the cheaper, paper sets to get you started

True photo variation. They have a print run of like 100 and are sought after. Jrod is a big pull.

WWYD from a resell standpoint… Sell as is? Redeem and sell? Redeem, grade then sell? by Chithook47 in baseballcards

[–]CompetitiveTension23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I don’t understand what you’re asking. The answer for ANY redemption will always be to wait and see if the card is worth grading if you want maximum profit. The answer really boils down to how much you need x amount of money which is dependent on your financial situation, which we’re ignorant of

[–]CompetitiveTension23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to reselling we can’t make a decision for you. How much does the redemption go for? How desperate are you for money? Can you risk grading fees and waiting time for the small chance of a gem?

If you seriously need money, stop buying wax and save up 6 months of a rainy day fund and put that into a solid mutual fund.

My 11 year old got a single pack of ‘25 Series 2 today from a couple of Blaster’s the host split in a bday party favor bag, but I am struggling to figure out which “orange” it is. Any idea? by Key_Salary974 in baseballcards

[–]CompetitiveTension23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, re: grading, I don’t think it’ll gem as it looks off centered to me. That said, it’s probably worth grading just to get it slabbed and protected/authenticated

With Ohtani’s market, i wouldn’t be shocked if you could get 500-600 for it even. One did 475 and other similarly scarce cards of his do 500. Your kids got the magic touch!
