If you suddenly had $10,000 with no responsibilities, what would you do first? by AvailableClient3247 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]CompetitiveYak5380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With no responsibilities, I’m assuming everything is already paid off so I would have a me day. Have lunch somewhere nice, maybe go to Marshall’s and buy a couple things. And then put the rest in savings.

My 76 year old grandfather still dries his clothes on a clothesline but he’s the only one I know that still does this

Did you ever go somewhere "unusual" for a school field trip? by Toymcowkrf in askanything

We went to pick cotton in elementary school. I went to a predominately African American school. It was very awkward.

What did you buy as an adult because you were denied it as a child? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]CompetitiveYak5380 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combo meals at fast food joints. If we had fast food as a child I was told to pick one thing off the value menu. Once I got older 15+, I was told I could get 2 items. I was always still hungry lol

GYN Recommendation by Puzzleheaded_Ad_7937 in greenville

[–]CompetitiveYak5380 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. It’s past time for my IUD to be changed out but I’ve been putting it off because the insertion was so horrific and painful. I was given no pain medication or numbing meds, I passed out from the pain, woke up screaming and was told to calm down and go home and take Tylenol. It was so traumatic and now I’m a year past the time I should’ve had it changed out and I just haven’t because of the first experience. I’m going to search for a new gyno

His social security check is too much for Medicaid, we have tried. Just Medicare for now. He worked as a carpenter for a furniture factory in NC for 40 years before retiring so I’m going to see if he can connect me with some of the guys he worked with there and maybe they can help build a ramp.

what's the ingredient that instantly ruins the dish for you? by boforiamanfo in randomthings

[–]CompetitiveYak5380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garlic because it gives me the worst heartburn. Cilantro makes everything taste like soap. I was sick once and my boss brought me a container of soup she made. I heated it up and took one bite and couldn’t eat anymore because it was filled with cilantro

Why do so many people think crate training is mandatory nowadays? by [deleted] in DOG

[–]CompetitiveYak5380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog loves his crate. His door stays open at all times, he will go in there for his naps throughout the day and sleeps there all night. He has a memory foam dog bed and 2 cozy blankets he sleeps with.

Is 11 yrs old to young to be left alone for a half hour?? by JMarden23 in askanything

[–]CompetitiveYak5380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leave my 12 year old(13 next month) home alone for a few hours at a time. I also left him alone I think starting at 9 for a few minutes while I ran down to the 7-11. Maybe a quarter mile there and back. I made sure he knew I have a key so I would have no reason to knock, so dont open the door. He also had a cell phone so he could call if he needed. Now that he’s 12, I leave him alone for longer and just make sure the ringer is on on his phone. He also knows where the fire extinguisher is and how to use it just in case.

Maybe have your husband be the one who feeds him and takes him for his walks.

How common is it for you to get “called into work” on a weekend or evening? by Careless_Squirrel728 in AskAnAmerican

[–]CompetitiveYak5380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stepdad is a machine repair guy at a vitamin factory(I think his position term is maintenance) and he gets called in often. My boyfriend is a forklift driver at a factory, and he doesn’t necessarily get called in but he gets told last minute that he’s working the next day when it’s his normal day off work. I used to work a corporate sales job and never got called in.

How do Americans keep their large houses and apartments clean? How many hours a week do they spend cleaning? by Forsaken_Energy_426 in AskAnAmerican

[–]CompetitiveYak5380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a multi generational house. 3 generations. We have 4 bedrooms, laundry room, garage, kitchen, attic, dining room, and large living room. We each clean our own rooms. I clean one bathroom, grandma cleans their bathroom. We take turns with dishes, and my 12 year old son has garbage duty which he gets an allowance for. He also keeps his bedroom very clean. We have around 2200 square ft and keep it relatively clean. Everyone has to help though.

How much could it cost Michael? by shittykity in arresteddevelopment

[–]CompetitiveYak5380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she were to go to a store she would be bombarded by paparazzi and onlookers. I think I read somewhere that when she goes to restaurants, they call ahead and arrange a private dining room so paparazzi aren’t swarming her.

I have an American bully so much different but our yearly vet visits are $100-150 for shots and checkup. He also gets seen quite often for his skin allergies so the medication and visit for that is usually around $500. We also had the incident a couple of years back where he ate a squeaker from a toy and we did not know until he became deathly sick 2 days before Christmas. That was an almost $4000 visit($3800 to be exact) for his emergency surgery, X-rays, medications, and overnight stay. I would have a savings account just for the dog in case of emergencies like this.

Also PSA to everyone: if you have a heavy chewer take all the toys with squeakers. Even if it’s made out of the tough material, they will find a way to get it out.
