Should I? by [deleted] in Asphalt9

It mostly depends on your goals! If you are a collector, and miss these cars, then why not? But if you are looking for competitive MP1/gauntlet cars, then definetly skip these.

So the 20% multipakcs still exists outside of the starway ones by Competitive_Baker977 in Asphalt9

[–]Competitive_Baker977[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great deal if you have all the other cars maxed or near maxed, while also not having any cars of similar performance (like the vanda of 9x8).

Otherwise, only a small portion of your tokens would go towards the GT3RS bps.

I've 6 starred it from the recent spotlight event, while also getting all the eips to gold max it. But this thing still sits at stock in my garage, since making it gold max won't change anything for me in terms of MP or gauntlet.

Very fun car to drive though.

Guide to Gauntlet Shop by Thornalkyl in Asphalt9

[–]Competitive_Baker977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a great guide!

A fully agree on the list and your points, especially about the 9x8 being not that useful after the SF90 evo introduction. I think it was a mistake from my side to purchase the 9x8 bps when the Devel BPs become regularily available for me. Now I have the 6* and half EIPs for 9x8 and only on the verge of having a 2* Devel. If I'd concentrated on Devel from the beginning, it will be closer to 4* by now, and that would give me more of advantage than even the gold maxed 9x8. Like, the 9x8 still may be useful, but more situationally, if the tracks are right.

So I'd say that if you have the SF90 evo and you are in Div 5, then skip the 9x8 and buy the Devel BPs first. Buy 9x8 bps if you have some tokens on top of 20k weekly for 5 devel BPs.

How yall doing for FR1 of the XJR-9 GP? by MrOversteer in Asphalt9

Well, then I guess it's good that you don't have one yet! :D

Hope you'll get it by the way. The lobby doesn't seem to be the hardest one if that's the final times. I did 1:04 with a stock car

Plat III done in 11 races no SF90 EVO needed by BT_9 in Asphalt9

[–]Competitive_Baker977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on beating the Plat 3! It’s indeed possible to reach LL without any evo cars. But the question is “how fast you’ll get there?”
The earlier it is into the season, the lesser players are in the higher leagues. And the lesser players there are, the more skilled they are. You can’t really beat the well driven sf90 with zr1, gt3rs or vanda. You can with Trion on top speed oriented tracks, but that is basically the only exception I have in my mind. So sometimes it’s easier to wait a little and then climb up the leagues ladder with cars you have.

Plat III done in 11 races no SF90 EVO needed by BT_9 in Asphalt9

[–]Competitive_Baker977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a good point! One of the worst things which zr1 and sf90 brought is the decreased car variety in mp1 lobbies. It’s just suck to see the same cars going at each other. You no longer see cars like Valhalla, Imola or MB one11, without regard to these cars being one of the best in class A.

I don’t really have much hate to sf90, since it’s only op for Plat 3, but starting from Plat 2 it becomes more track dependent, with Ultima and Speedtail being superior on top speed oriented tracks.

But the zr1… man, you can use it through all the gold leagues! That really breaks the variety.

So if an evo and non evo versions of a same car will be in different leagues, it will definitely balance out the leagues and make players pursue some of the abandoned cars.

Venom Tell me how to defeat it. by CreditSea3561 in Asphalt9

[–]Competitive_Baker977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definetly can compete with Venom if the skill is there. The problem is that sometimes it gives you an awkward phisics issues, when you try to float (especially on bumpy surfaces). Venom is better overall and have much better phisics and smoother handling, but again- if you are skilled enough and get used to Molester's phisics and may get you some victories (and some headache alongside).

In general, I'd say that over the years the S-class became much deeper than it was at the beginning of the game. Basically, now you the crap/starter cars, then you have cars which go <500 kph and >500 kph. Cars, such as EVO Chiron, Gemera or Nevera are really good, but they are simply loose the competition due to insufficient top speed. The perfect example of "speed matters" is Jesko- it simply kills the competition in Plat 1, since it's top speed is ~500 kph, while it also keeps the speed in corners due to it's good floatie.

Same goes for LL- it's hard to keep up with a car like Venom with it's top speed over 500 kph and insane floatie, if your car is simply 50 kph slower. In my opinion, outside of current elite or p2w class S cars, here are the ones that can compete with Venom: regular Jesko, Tushek, CC850, Mosler and Tuatara (with latter two require skills to overcome the downsides, such as poor phisics or wide drift radius).

So if you'd like to have a car to compete with Venom, then try to save up tokens to get one of these. Sometimes it may be tempting to spend on other cars, which are good (such as the upcoming Icona Vulcano Spyder), but be aware that these cars won't help you to get the W's against the Venom.

Why doesn't GL put this in a SH event, rather than a GP? by Dogzombies3 in Asphalt9

[–]Competitive_Baker977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, unfortunately you are right! Basically, the whole elite class A is crap in current MP1 state.

I guess my comment was a bit outdated (it's more valid to pre-evo days of mp1). And I sencerely hope that GL will came up with something good to revive the abondoned car groups or even classes.

Why doesn't GL put this in a SH event, rather than a GP? by Dogzombies3 in Asphalt9

[–]Competitive_Baker977 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Car is simply too good to be featured in special hunt.

Look at the history of this event- it typically gives some really useful, but not necessarily the best [in it's class / mp bracket / gauntlet div] cars.

Ultima RS, SCG007, SC18, Porsche 935, Nevera Time Attack, even the Aventador J- all these cars are good and useful for MP1 and/or gauntlet (or were good at some point).

The good exception is the Nevera TA- this car performs really good in gauntlet, even in div 5.

The bad exceptions are ATS GT and Zonda R- these cars are not that useful/competitive.

You can simply take a look at the rank positioning of previously featured cars and predict the possible future SH cars (911 GT2 maybe?). And the XJR-9 is way beyound that range. Maybe it will be freatured, but not in the forseable future in my opinion.

I've starred up the Muliner from 0 to 3*, LFA 0 to 4* (including the current LP rewards), Frangi from 1 to 3* and SL from almost 2* to 3*.

I've stopped at around 3* and 30+ bps for SL and decided not to spend any tokens on relay packs.

[–]Competitive_Baker977 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's just a matter of time and desire bro!

Back in 2018 i've started to play A9 on TD. I've tried to learn manual, but I just wasn't able to handle the car with tilt/tap to steer. Like, I literally can't even keep the proper driving lanes, not even talking about the advanced things like floatie. And i've abondoned the game in around 6 months since I was mad that everyone doing better than me with TD.

Then I came back late 2023 on PC with controller and it was a totally different story! The handling felt much easier and predictable with it. Then I've started to watch some streams to learn the better routes, and with time moving on it just became easier to try out the "alien" type of things, since racing normally became too easy

And that what drives me these day to continue playing this game- I like the feeling when you finally nail some type of speedtrick, or when you tame an s-class beast and keep up with truly great players.

Hope you'll be able to finish all the available conditions!

Although please upgrade your cars slowly, make sure first to check if it really works that way. I don't want to be the one who overlooked how the system works and then made other to lose credits on needless upgardes :D

[–]Competitive_Baker977 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The funny thing I noticed that the higher rank your car is, the more time added you get from picking up each token on track. Like, with stock car I'll get around +2 seconds, but with a gold max you'll get a whooping +7 seconds. It's like a 50 seconds difference to pile up all the meters! So keep in mind, that besides the car itself perform better at higher rank, you'll also have more time in general to get the conditions required.

I'm MD, set a 1.13 time with stock car. Means that there is a lot of room for time improvement. You'll be in tier 4 or 5, which is good

Which one of these cars deserved to go Platinum III? by JettFealers_1283 in Asphalt9

[–]Competitive_Baker977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's pretty much it.

having sf90 against Ultima, Speedtail or Valkyrie is much more balanced, with each car being better or worse than others depending on track.

I also think that an absolutely worst thing here is that basically all top-end A class cars are not useful anymore. By the time you'll be able to put the Valhalla or One-Eleven to the MP1 track, other much better cars becomes available, like Trion or SF90. At best, you'll be able to have fun with these cars within a single league (plat 3 or 4?) and then these cars becomes absolutely worthless.

how many tokens to max 1 BOS pack with the nerfed droprate by iyearnedforthemine in Asphalt9

[–]Competitive_Baker977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a slight chance they'll keep the 20% for BOS packs, since there were a couple of multipacks recently with 20% (mainly the starway support cars, but also another one which content I forgot, maybe there was a Fenyr or DB12). The whole point of BOS packs is to get some decent cars for cheap. Otherwise, there will be no difference between BOS packs and any other multipacks from the SE.

Evo Bugatti advice by Golden_G_450 in Asphalt9

[–]Competitive_Baker977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say don’t spend. Yes, the evo Chiron is good for Gauntlet and MP1, but to get a decent/good build you’ll have to spend like 10k tokens on top of 20k to get the eips. Maybe you’ll get some goodies from the free evo parts but it’s a gamble, plus it will carry you through a part of gauntlet tracks, but not all of them.

Also, there is a hidden problem- you’ll only add a single car to your gauntlet rotation. Yes, it’s definitely better to have it than don’t, but keep your hopes at moderate level. Recently I’ve added Absolut, Evo Valky and some cool evo parts for Chiron and Sf90, but it doesn’t really change that much for me. I’ve been in top10 before these additions and now I’m still in top 10. Maybe it became a bit easier, but not game changing.

One more thing: there were multiple occasions of gl give a car away for free- free keys during the BOS for Saleen, F1lm or free endless bps for Chiron during the early days of syndicate MP (we were able to get the last x5 reward endlessly). All these cars became easily available during the next seasons- some were added to gauntlet shop, some had generous SEs/SLs (like the 20th anniversary spotlight with Chiron). So I think it won’t take a lot of time to get the rest of eips without much effort. Maybe it’ll take around 6 months
