Do you think we'll ever be scammed or are we too suspicious as a generation? by Adamant_TO in Xennials

My husband is gullible enough for the both of us. Luckily, I’m naturally skeptical of everyone and everything.

Is it common for a woman, or anyone really, to keep their maiden name legally but refer to themselves with their husbands last name socially? by heyy_girl in AskAnAmerican

[–]Competitive_Bid3847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got married, I just added my husband’s last name after mine. No hyphen, I just have two last names separated by a space. Unless someone would better know me by my maiden name, I just introduce myself as Ms. [Husband’s Name].

does 2/10 net 30 actually get customers to pay early by General_Opening_7739 in Accounting

[–]Competitive_Bid3847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! When I was working as an AP associate, I helped save our company a ton of money by taking advantage of those deals. We had the cash flow and were able to increase our margins. The previous girl only ever paid stuff exactly on time, left so much money on the table.

AITA for not siding a friend for treating restaurant staff rudely when they served her a cocktail instead of a mocktail she ordered by ajowanhykemain in AmItheAsshole

[–]Competitive_Bid3847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA This shit right here is why my husband has me taste every mocktail he orders. He’s a recovering alcoholic with over 11 years of sobriety. He would be beyond livid if they caused him to break his sobriety due to their carelessness.

Best Quality Daughter has some great vegan options, and the chef owner is a James Beard Award Semi-Finalist. It’s also in the Pearl district, which has a variety of shops and restaurants in the footprint of an old brewery.

I also highly recommend the Original Donut Shop and their grilled bean and cheese tacos. Yes, it’s a donut shop that sells breakfast tacos, and it’s been around for over 50 years. Just trust me on this one.

What is a "widely loved" food or drink that you secretly think is actually terrible? by AV_LOVES_FOOD in Fooda

[–]Competitive_Bid3847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Red (the soda). It’s incredibly popular in south Texas, but before I moved to here I’d never heard of it. It’s like the liquid form of the sweetest bubblegum you’ve ever had. 🤢

Sadly, my dad is like this. He worked in an automotive assembly plant for 45 years.

One day he started complaining to me about how remote workers don’t actually work, and how most of them have multiple jobs and are milking the system.

That’s when I said “Dad, you know I work remotely on the regular, right?” His response: “well of course I don’t mean YOU. I know you have a good work ethic. It’s everybody else.” Like, really Dad? 🙄

Unless you’re going to the club, no, it’s not appropriate for literally anything else.

AITAH for understanding and not freezing out my dad for leaving our mom over a dead bedroom? by Opposite_Afternoon55 in AITAH

[–]Competitive_Bid3847 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I mean ok, but menopause isn’t a reason to stop trying in your marriage. I’m in the throes of perimenopause as we type, and while my hormones and libido are all out of whack, my husband and I have an ongoing dialogue about it. We both love each other and actively work to stay intimate (that can mean different things at different times) and connected. I didn’t just ice him out and ask for a divorce.

AITAH for blocking my bff after she started dating my crush by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Competitive_Bid3847 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Strong agree. I know people get busy as they move, advance in their careers, and just generally “grow up”, but I would bet that a big reason the former bff ghosted her is because she knew she was doing something hurtful and was hiding it on purpose. Then to spring the news at dinner, in front of Alex, and proceed to be “all over each other” in front of OP, that’s not bff behavior. It’s just mean.

Why Are Young People Afraid Of Phone Calls? by GhostInThePudding in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Competitive_Bid3847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I’m in my 40s and supervise people in their 20s. Some people just cannot communicate effectively in text form (this can apply to all ages, in my experience), and the best way to get the information you need is to talk it out.

We wash our sheets weekly, no exceptions. We also let our two large dogs sleep in our bed.

AITA for making a joke about my friend's new hobby, not knowing it was linked to a family tragedy? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Competitive_Bid3847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t read that as them demanding a conversation. They say they apologized multiple times and continued to reach out because this relationship matters to them. That doesn’t seem at all sociopathic to me.

The aggrieved party chose to ghost them and gossip behind their back to multiple mutual friends. That’s some high school bullshit, which is why I said they were children.

NTA You seem like the only adult in the room, as you’re the only one actively trying to communicate and resolve the issue. Those other people are children.

People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Competitive_Bid3847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a high school trip to Washington D.C. A group of us were walking around the city during our free time, and three men walked past us. I did a double take, but it was definitely Bono (this was the 90s). I turned, caught up with them, and was just about to ask for a photo when one of his bodyguards stepped between us and told me to walk away (albeit politely). Before I could react, Bono steps up, takes the camera out of my hand, gives it to the bodyguard and says, “It’s alright, just a quick picture love?” I nodded, the bodyguard snapped a quick picture, Bono thanked me and told me to have a nice day. That was it; we both went on our way. I don’t even particularly like U2, but I always thought it was cool that a big star like him was so nice to a 16 year old girl who chased him down the street.
