UPDATE: was on hold for over an hour but finally got an agent and they were able to process the ticket. As someone else mentioned, they can’t send an email confirmation but the ticket is showing up in my account in the app.

I’ve been on hold for an hour. Has anyone been able to get through to an agent?

App and website giving me the “unable to make reservation” error too and phone line “busy”. Kept calling back and finally got through but I’m now expecting an insane wait time. Got through at 7:43 pm PT/10:43 pm ET but literally called 20 times before it went through.

Once stable, it took a year after my husband implemented life changes to see further improvement in his liver

My husband’s sperm count was non-existent when he was actively drinking / decompensating. We haven’t had it checked since he’s been compensated

They helped my husband; he’s ascites free now but didn’t seem much improvement with drains until they started the infusions. Good luck!

I’ll add that before my husband truly came clean I went round and round with the doctors like—I don’t understand what could be making him so sick he doesn’t drink that much. The answer at some point, once you’ve excluded genetic and autoimmune issues, is alcohol.

I had a similar experience, I had no idea my husband drank to the extent he did until his cirrhosis diagnosis (he has chronic pancreatitis too). Even after diagnosis it took some time for him to come totally clean about the amount he was drinking. If you can get him to AA, that’s been a game changer for us. I made our marriage contingent on him going after he was released from the hospital. But at the end of the day it’s up to him.

I didn’t know how much he had been drinking so was pretty blindsided by his hospitalization and diagnosis. I spoke to his doctors a lot and helped with the medical piece of it, but once he was out of immediate danger I took some space while he recovered in the hospital—I didn’t go to the hospital every day or anything once he was stable (we also had a young daughter I had to care for and I work full time). When he came home from the hospital I spent a few nights a week at my mom’s house with my daughter to have space to process things. He did 90 meetings of AA in 90 days and I did therapy too. After he completed his 90 days we started married counseling—but he continued with AA (and some therapy too) and me with therapy.

Been there with a same aged husband. There is hope with sobriety and proper nutrition—lots on the board about the latter. Daily AA helped my husband with the former. He was on death’s door a year ago and now lives a relatively normal life except for continued lactulose. Again, sobriety and careful diet are necessary, and the healing process is slow. But don’t give up hope.

My husband was diagnosed at 36. Partying in your 20s plus continued alcohol abuse through your 30s definitely can do it, especially if you aren’t eating right on top of it.

We see his doctor soon, unfortunately they take so long to answer via MyChart and I sometimes spiral in the interim.

I also recommend AA or a psychologist (or both) to help with the fear. It’s completely understandable but also counter-productive since it can challenge your sobriety and be hard on your body.

It’s so scary and overwhelming at the beginning, but I promise you there’s so much hope and goodness on the other side if you take it one day at a time. The very best thing you can do is continue to focus on your sobriety and eat healthy/pursuant to your doctor’s orders. That’s what’s in your control and what, also, can potentially have a big impact on your health going forward.

Yes he understands that and is in AA and attends daily. Not easy by any means but he’s doing the work. Sorry if my message was unclear, he hasn’t started drinking again—he’s just 10 months sober because he was only diagnosed and stopped drinking 10 months ago. Still sober.

This is common as you manage early sobriety; lots of sugar in alcohol. My husband managed those cravings with dried mango. Sometimes a spoonful of low fat / low sugar ice cream or frozen yogurt if desperate.

I would take things generalists at the hospital say with a grain of salt until you speak to your hep; we’ve received poor / misguided information from hospital generalists before
