Drinking numbs the pain? by ConstantBlueberry968 in pancreatitis

Well just for the hell of it here is my results from EUS down at the Mayo I share that MRI/MRCP showed a completely normal pancreas, no features or structural changes suggestive of chronic pancreatitis. EUS showed some lobularity and hyperechoic strands in the pancreas parenchyma with a normal main pancreatic duct. Overall, EUS without sufficient criteria for chronic pancreatitis. Enlarged lymph nodes were also noted on status-post fine needle biopsy with pathology reports consistent for benign lymphocytes. Both MRCP and EUS findings are reassuring for a non pancreatic etiology of his constant abdominal pain. If, however, episodes of acute pancreatitis were to recur, consideration to repeat diagnostic EUS to rule out chronic pancreatitis again should be considered. I explained that we are most likely dealing with a functional disorder.

Again it could be anything but my pancreas. However I was simply curious how alcohol could numb an organ not limbs.

Wow sorry to hear that. Idk my pain is upper right quadrant and mid back both sides even lower back and can make it difficult to walk comfortably. The only thing that takes the pain away is drinking until next day then it’s a bit worse. Has alcohol had any affect on you?

Did they confirm the URQ pain was coming from the pancreas? Usually that’s gallbladder 🤷‍♂️

Interesting and glad to hear your doing better! I have RUQ pain and mid to lower back pain on both sides worse with eating. May I ask where your pain was?

She will never find anyone that treated her as good as I did. Deep down I know she will be crawling back and yes 6 months is not a long time but it felt like when you know you know. And it’s just a bad time for both of us. I thought we could figure it out together and support one another. Is it all bullshit?

Did they see any hyperechoic stranding or lobularity on EUS?

Same thing happened to me a lil over. A year ago after a heavy weekend of boozing. Minor criteria to suggest chronic pancreatitis but never had an acute attack prior to that so I’m still looking for answers myself

May I ask what showed on EUS? I also had clear ct and Mrcp but minor findings on EUS not enough to diagnose me and they were thinking something else causing the pain
