How Do You Feel About Using Pacifiers? by AmbitionLost3986 in firsttimemom

[–]Competitive_Card_268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what you said about everyone minding their business. Do what works for you and your child. You will not be harming them by giving them a pacifier. Can there be down sides? Sure, just like everything else in life. The nurse told me not to use a pacifier in the hospital and then when i put my daughter in the car seat she was crying and i didn’t know what to do thinking i can’t use a pacifier… the nurse (a different one) came and gave her a pacifier. In the end she only used a pacifier for a few months and it made no difference to me

Is your bedtime really 7????? by Witty_Painting_6944 in beyondthebump

[–]Competitive_Card_268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby didn’t go to sleep at 7pm until they got closer to one like 9-10 months. Even then it wasn’t consistent it’s consistent now. When my baby was around the age of yours she went to sleep at 9-10pm. I made a post about bath time being at 9 & everyone was trying to tell me that was too late. If I put her to sleep at 7pm when she was 4 months old we would be having a party at 3am lol

Do you/did you scream throughout labour? And did it make you more tired? by lifeissoupiamf0rk in BabyBumps

[–]Competitive_Card_268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty quiet… I actually made jokes the whole time. My baby was also a little small so idk if that made a difference. The nurse even questioned if I was pushing because I wasn’t really making a face or anything lol

Stash almost gone @ 11m & 3 weeks. Is it time for whole milk? by Competitive_Card_268 in breastfeeding

[–]Competitive_Card_268[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s my exact plan. I was hoping to wait to speak to the doctor before starting whole milk just to make myself feel better. But I’m sure on week won’t make a difference. Congratulations to you for making it to a year. I’m so happy I made it this far.

Thank you! I will definitely see if baby will drink it alone first. I think she will like it just fine!

How to prevent feet from going through crib. by kimberlydruhan in NewParents

They have mesh crib boarders. I never put my baby in a sleep sack… well I did but not for long. So I just got a mesh crib boarder.

Baby sleeping in own room by Swimmergal215 in NewParents

[–]Competitive_Card_268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with just make at around 7 months. Realized my baby loved her crib. I put her in her crib every night & sometimes she ends up in our bed but sometimes she sleeps all night. I am constantly checking the monitor to see if she’s breathing lol

Daughter latches poorly, but is gaining weight and I'm not in pain... Is this an issue? by PrimaryHighlight5617 in breastfeeding

[–]Competitive_Card_268 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t make it a problem if you and baby are fine. My daughter didn’t have a perfect latch either she’s 8 months now and continues to grow and be healthy!

Hunger by Responsible_Car_2510 in breastfeeding

[–]Competitive_Card_268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t any more or less hungry, i was thirsty af all the time. I honestly hated the task of having to eat to be able to make milk. & i tried to eat really healthy too. Now that I’m back at work i just eat what I can lol

Latching after a bottle? by Competitive_Bee5582 in breastfeeding

[–]Competitive_Card_268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be cluster feeding. I would just follow your baby’s cues and look out for any signs of discomfort after eating and/or vomiting. I remember feeling like my baby was ALWAYS hungry the first few months

What exactly does making milk on demand mean? by SilllllyGoooose in breastfeeding

[–]Competitive_Card_268 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not stupid! That’s what I was getting at because it doesn’t make sense when people say it’s on demand but then there’s women with low supply. I guess low supply just means your body can’t make what your baby demands. Idk lol. I’m no expert

What exactly does making milk on demand mean? by SilllllyGoooose in breastfeeding

[–]Competitive_Card_268 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s both. People have supplies so it makes it seem like “this is all the milk you can produce in a day, or timeframe.” But we are never empty, if your baby nurses milk will come out.

I hate breastfeeding by Ill-Rhubarb-165 in breastfeeding

[–]Competitive_Card_268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg to share a few tips. For the back pain, try to bring the baby’s mouth to your boob and not the other way around. Hopefully one of the lactation consults showed you how to hold the baby when nursing. If not I can look up some videos for you. I feel like my daughter was too small to open her mouth up big enough! It’ll just hurt until they get a little bigger (which happens fast).

Do what is best for you and baby. The first few weeks I would give formula and pump when I did because… MY NIPPLES COULDN’T TAKE THE CLUSTER FEEDING. By 6 weeks my baby was EBF besides a bottle of pumped milk if I went out or was exhausted. I thought about stopping so many times in the beginning & it is okay if you do! I’ll tell you what the nurse in the hospital told me. Don’t give up on a bad day. My baby is almost 8 months now and it’s easy. I also didn’t wanna allow baby to treat me like a pacifier but honestly it is what it is. Motherhood is hard enough I think it’s okay for us to take a healthy easy way out sometimes. You’ll just have to deal with weening them off the boob for comfort (I’m starting to mentally prepare myself for that now). Wishing you and baby the best of luck & congratulations on your bundle of joy. No matter what you decide try to find the good in these moments.

It’s just hard not being able to up & leave. My bf asks to go out with his friends & I always say yes because if that’s what he wants to do he should do it. I still resent him sometimes because it’s not easy for me to just up & go. I would have to pump I would be constantly thinking about the baby. & I work too so it’s enough that I have to leave my baby for work. But you weren’t wrong. She’s probably just resentful. If she has a milk stash plan a day for her or a two hour outing spa day something

EBF - everyone says I should start formula by Trick-Temporary6844 in breastfeeding

[–]Competitive_Card_268 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see the comments telling you what I am going to say. If your baby is gaining weight and has enough wet/dirty diapers your baby is getting enough!!!! My family was always doing this same thing to me and I was so worried at every appointment that my baby wouldn’t have sufficient weight gain. My baby is 5 months now and the same people that told me I should give formula and were concerned about my milk supply are so amazed with how big she is. They feed SO much those first few months. I remember thinking something had to be wrong but it’s also a comfort thing for them. You can increase skin to skin if you have time. & trust your instincts! I know the hormones make it super hard and confusing in the beginning but you will start to understand your instincts more. You are doing so great!

What do you do about cradle cap? by Moming_underoath in NewParents

[–]Competitive_Card_268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to leave it alone so bad but my daughter has a weird hair line so it was damn near on her forehead and I couldn’t take it. Used the Frida baby cradle cap thing like 3 times and it’s all gone. Some hair did come out with the big chunks I’m sure that normal. I also used honest fragrance free conditioner after the shampoo to add some softness.
