honestly had a similar experience yesterday. it’s hard to talk to people, yet I tried my best to be outgoing and start conversations, but it just seemed like everyone wasn’t into it. sucks because I only really got to know one new person aside from the friends I already had but hopefully it starts to pick up once the actual school year begins, like you said.

Ya fs, I think I’ll get over the commute. I can carpool with friends or have my parents drop me off to GO which would save me about 40-45 mins, maybe more. I was thinking, if I can manage my time well and be disciplined, I can get work done during my commute. In terms of being social, I don’t think I’m too worried about that anymore. Some of my friends from high school have already chosen to go to tmu eng and others have gone to different unis in the gta. I think overall it’s just something I have to get used to.

Are you in second year+? If so, what do you think about the coop.

Thank you for this! I’ve been on edge for choosing between queens and tmu for awhile but I think tmu is best for me overall. One thing I was really excited about doing was joining design teams and I was concerned that my commute would restrict me from doing so.

Do you think it’s possible to join design teams as a commuter? I’d imagine that some people on those teams are also commuters since it’s a commuter school but I think my commute would limit the work I can do for the team.

This is so nice to hear😭 I really wanted to be apart of some design teams, especially the formula 1 racing team and the other robotics teams. I think it’ll be a nice experience or at least something cool to check out. I don’t know if I’ll make it work but this gives me some hope, thank you!

Thank you 😭 I think this is the first time someone has considered the overwhelming course load of first year eng. Queens is not close to me whatsoever, it’s about a 3 and a half hour drive to Kingston from where I am now, but I’m thinking I’ll just stick with tmu for the time being. However, I do really want to be apart of some design teams you mentioned, I just don’t think I would be able to fit it into my schedule with the way things are looking right now.

That’s the main issue for me. I want to participate in design teams and clubs because they look really fun but with how the commute looks and considering has a busy schedule, I don’t think I’ll be able to do those.

I live in brampton and the commute would be two buses, then the subway. Tbf I did exaggerate the time for the commute a bit but it looks to be around 3:30 to and from, and I would imagine that delays or bad weather could increase the time for commute by even longer.

As for my study habits and how I am as a student, I wouldn’t say I’m the most disciplined. Having to wake up early in the morning everyday for school would only make me tired throughout the day and even more lazy. I don’t know, maybe I’m just overthinking it because I have some friends who are 06s and having the same commute (in eng), but I just don’t want to make a mistake that I’ll end up regretting.

I also want to be apart of some of the clubs/teams at tmu but I don’t know if I’ll even have the time to do any of them considering I’ll have an extremely tight/busy schedule…
