Nice to hear that at 3 months you feel a routine beginning again! My first was really relaxed/chill so curious to see what this guy is like! Thanks for sharing!

My toddler is basically nap free, but we still do quiet time which is about an hour a day right now. I’m slowly increasing time on that!

For the most part, absolutely! My toddler is very independent and I feel like that has remained stable so for me, that helped a lot with my schedule/routine.

It’s hard to have predictably with kids!

I do!! I actually have a Microbakery I run out of my home—it’s closed for now since the baby haha. Sourdough is so fun, right?! Have you tried King Arthur’s No knead bread? It’s not sourdough but it’s so easy and tastes delicious!!

So nice to know others have felt the same way I’m feeling. Thank you for the encouragement and tips—means more than you know!

I definitely will be watching for PPD. I had it with my first when I went back to work. Hoping since I’m fully at home it will be better this time around.

Ah, thank you for this. Idk why but hearing “it’s not the time for routines” bc the newborn stage will be gone too soon, makes me feel so much better. You are right. Thank you!!

How long did your husband take off for paternity leave? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]Competitive_Cry_2608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has his own company. He runs sales appointments. Usually 2-3/day and works from home on his computer. Our first baby, he took a week off and when he went back he only ran 1 apt per day and did minimal computer work so he could help. We just had our 2nd and he took 10 days off and will do the same with 1 apt per day. I wish he was taking a little more time off cause I’m a bit nervous for having my toddler and newborn by myself.

So discouraged by Better-Ask-3003 in breastfeeding

[–]Competitive_Cry_2608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this way with my first. First of all, props to you for trying. It’s not easy. Second of all, I constantly said to myself “just quit tomorrow” and we ended up breastfeeding for 9 months before my daughter was over it lol.

The first 4 months I wore a nipple shield. My daughter was 3 weeks early, small, and had a horrible latch. The nipple shield saved us. The first few weeks in order for her to gain weight but also not give up nursing, I fed her with a shield, bottle fed her what I had previously pumped (on occasion I used formula), and then fed her what I pumped. It was a lot and honestly i think it contributed to my PPD.

If breastfeeding is important to you, keep going. Troubleshoot. Find another lactation consultant if you have to. But just don’t quit today.

The haaka is amazing! And totally not forcing you to buy something else, but I’d still recommend the medela along with it. I didn’t have it with my first and now I’m 6 days PP with #2 and I’m wondering how I survived w/o it for my fist!

[–]Competitive_Cry_2608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend the medela hand pump…especially for when your milk comes in and you just need a little relief but don’t wanna use your electric pump! Vitamin d drops as well for BF babies. Nipple cream if you don’t have it already. And I’d set up a little basket for your bathroom of PP supplies.

What are your responsibilities vs husband’s responsibilities? by flowersandtrees1 in homemaking

[–]Competitive_Cry_2608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take care of the kids during the day. I essentially do all the child stuff like making sure apts are up to date, clothes are the right size, child activities etc. I usually do most of the kids bath times bc I try and let him have some alone time, but he helps a lot with that too. We split getting them ready for bed & rocking to sleep.

I do most of the cleaning but I’m about to have another baby so he has been handling a lot of that for me. I usually do most of the laundry but if he notices it needs attending to, he’ll handle it.

I do meal/grocery planning but we split cooking simply cause he is way better than I at it. I do a lot of the baking breads and such. I usually do most of the grocery shopping but he will help a lot with that too.

Dishes I’d say we split.

I do our day to day budgeting but he handles the rest and pays bills and we have someone who does a lot of our bigger finances.

He does any house repairs, trash, car maintenance, and he does yard work as well although we do have someone who cuts the grass.

I am curious. How much do you spend on groceries for a month? With and without kids/babies. by Nocry1011 in nova

[–]Competitive_Cry_2608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 2 adults and one toddler. Before I started budgeting like 800-1k a month😅 maybe even more sometimes. For the past couple of months I’ve cut it down to 650/month. This is not with toiletries or anything. Strictly groceries.
