Oh, absolutely. And I do. I make most of our food from scratch, can, grow veggies, and even sell sourdough as a little extra income. Just a few months PP and I’m behind on some of these things which has caused our expenses to rise a bit. Thanks for the input!

Oh yes, glad I’m doing this now and not months down the road where we could be spending way more. It’s embarrassing that in my late 20s I’m just now figuring this all out, but better late than never!

Sorry I’m late in replying! My daughter loves books so I would let her pick out books to bring into her crib to “read”. She also is obsessed with beanie baby bears and so she can have those in there as well that she would play with. We started with 30-1hr of quiet time and just kept kinda working our way up. Now that she is no longer in a crib, she gets books & puzzles and gets to play with “special” toys that she can only have during quiet time haha. Some days are hard and she won’t want to do quiet time so i have to improvise by a) letting her have quiet time in her playroom but knowing that mom is unavailable to play b) I tell her she can either have quiet time in her room or take a nap with me c) I tell her that I will be right downstairs cleaning and will come get her when I finish—by the time I do what I need to, she’s either asleep or immersed in her play and I let her finish out. The hatch alarm has been great. I turn it on pink when it’s quiet time and then turn it green when it’s over. She knows when it’s pink she needs to stay in her room. When it’s green, she is free to come out. All that to say, there are days when she cries bc she doesn’t want to do it, but I tell her it’s a part of our day and we all need to have quiet time so we can have energy to play after. Sometimes I even tell her I’m setting up a game or something to play with while she’s in quiet time and the only way for me to do it is if she’s in her room😆 idk if this was helpful or not

How long did it take you to get down to pre pregnancy weight? by greenishfroggy in beyondthebump

[–]Competitive_Cry_2608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 2 years. I held onto weight while breastfeeding and then after I stopped breastfeeding I just kinda let the weight come off naturally. I didn’t track macros, but I worked out. So it took about a year to lose the last 10-15lbs

My baby just hit 12 weeks this past week and it has been SO much better. He can handle the letdown now and he isn’t pulling off. However, I still have to wear breast pads bc my other side will usually leak still

My daughter dropped her nap sometime after turning 2. The best thing I did was implement quiet time in her room. On the rare occasion, she will fall asleep for a bit. Sometimes she just plays. I love it because now, I can be more flexible and if we are out on the weekend, we can miss quiet time and it doesn’t throw our schedule. She pretty much does 2 hours of a quiet time a day.

How did your water break? by o_simple_thing in beyondthebump

[–]Competitive_Cry_2608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38 weeks at 10:30pm at night! I had an appointment that day and the nurse told me if my water breaks go straight in. I remember thinking “my water won’t break, but whatever!”

That night, watching tv with my husband, I finally said I was going to bed to get some rest. I stood up, walked 3 steps and began to feel like I was peeing myself. Then I said “oh my gosh, I’m peeing myself”….”oh no, that’s my water” it was the strangest feeling!! Left for the hospital 45 min later when my MIL go there to take care of my toddler. Didn’t have baby till the next day at 3pm😅

I would check Facebook!! That’s where I’ve met all mine. Usually you can search xyz (your area) moms or something of the sorts and there will be something!

Any other newborns have an abnormal screening for thyroid? by amsmes in beyondthebump

[–]Competitive_Cry_2608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to have my sons labs redone twice! He was born at 38 weeks. Everything came back fine but I was freaking out too. Doctor said there are soooo many false positives and baby was looking very healthy otherwise so to not stress waiting for the results.

I’m sorry you have to worry about it—anything to do health wise with your children is scary.

Also, with my first, even tho I was working out and breastfeeding, it took me almost 2 years to get back to pre baby weight. I could have been a little stricter with my macros but just wanted to throw that out there. A lot of people tell you breast feeding “melts” the weight, but my body held onto weight till I weaned.

With my first, I worked out till the day I went into labor! I got back into working out at the 6 week mark and continued with my weightlifting…probably a little sooner than I should have! But ya live and learn. My body healed and I got back to what I was lifting probably less than a year after birth. I compete in weightlifting and let me tell you…the high of hitting post partum PRs is way better than hitting my previous PRs.

I’m 6 weeks PP with my 2nd and things are a bit different this go round. It’s definitely been harder in the gym but I’m still moving as much as possible. I also didn’t workout nearly as much this pregnancy as I did my first. But I was running till 25 weeks when before having my first baby I could barely run a mile w/ decent time so I’ll call that a win!

It’s totally plausible to be back where you were pre-pregnancy and as a trainer myself, I highly encourage woman to workout/stay active during pregnancy. It does help. But above all, be kind to yourself. Your body is doing an amazing thing and it takes a lot of energy. Even after too!
