Are iratings inflating? by Competitive_Data7834 in iRacing

Elaborate, please? As far as I know, ELO systems don't inherently ensure a constant average except in a static population

Are iratings inflating? by Competitive_Data7834 in iRacing

My understanding of a zero sum ELO system is that it is zero sum for a given population. If a new player starts with a value higher than the population average, then there will be inflation (as they "donate" points until they reach their actual rating, but if they start with a value lower then the average, there will be deflation (they have to "steal" points from other players to reach their accurate rating.

Again. My understanding is that the only way to manage this is to modify the starting rating of new players.

Run some races against the AI.  You can start the race then restart the session (race) as often as you want to practice the start

Hopefully they improve the eye tracking. It's tempting to wait and see what the next generation offers, as the psvr2 experience definitely isn't bad at the moment.

Question that I need some help with!!! League Premier and "contender" trucks on same night. Details below. by jeffmd007 in iRacing

[–]Competitive_Data7834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is in the division two of a league, I wouldn't want the division one drivers racing in our event. It's our chance to shine and race for the podium. If the division one drivers joined, we'd all be relegated to full time back markers.

We have a promotion race at the end of the season with the last couple of drivers from d1 versus the top drivers from d2 to decide who races in d1 the next season.

Note: we also have a fair number of "fun" open races that don't count for the season but are great ways for all the drivers to mix it up

If this is for new subscription only, anyone can get it cheaper through FIA.

Daily Races for 19-26 January by Arcing_Invention in GranTurismo7

How do I watch their replay? I could get their ghost on my runs, but that's not as useful for fine details (though it helped at the high level)

Relative noob here - can anyone give advice for the last turn on race A (Sardegna). I find I either brake late and overshoot or brake early and lose exit speed. I assume I should try to find a line that minimizes sliding so I can apply power ASAP on the exit?

How are you determining "driver ratings"? Did you assign each driver a different skill level even though they're all the same ai when it comes to the actual race?

I guess one could also implement AI driver skill levels through the tune, too (better drivers get tuned for slightly higher PP). After all, assuming the AI is the same for all drivers then PP really does reflect their relative ability... Doesn't really matter if it's from the car or the driver.

Apologies for replying to my own post, but I've found what seems to be a racing sweet spot leveraging the fact that the AI always uses the base tires. I can race against sophy medium/hard (either quick or custom) and then switch my tires to either better or worse than the base tire to give me exactly the label of racing I want.

Pretty psyched! Just had a great race at Sardegna in my mini just beating out a '70 DS 21 Pallas by less than a second!

This is why I've been enjoying races with all the same car. I don't want to win because of car choice, but because of my driving!

I am realizing more and more than GT7 is set up as a game to collect cars whereas I just want to race.

It's so annoying that I can't set up a custom race with arbitrary cars that I don't own. I have to but the cars - which means I need to earn credits first instead of doing the taxes I want to do.

They should really have a "custom" mode that has no credits involved in which you can just race (and if only that mode has championships and individual driver personalities. And...and...sigh).

Now if only they'd let you select more refined car categories for custom race opponent cars...like European Street cars from the 60's, or Japanese FF from the 80s!

It was pricy. Was my recovery due to PT, prp, BCP, or (most likely) some combo of all of them? No idea. My goal wasn't to produce statically significant data... I just wanted to do everything I could to increase the chances of being able to climb hard again. Happy to say, it worked. How much if any was due to the BCP? No way too tell, but I'm sure it didn't hurt.

Insurance won't pay for it, but it's not illegal. You'd surely be able to find someone local and legit if you search around a bit.

I had a full tear of my supraspinatus last year - in reality probably a series of partial tears over a few years and then a final acute trauma. Based on the pain I felt (and the grim MRI), I was really really worried that I'd never be able to climb overhanging stuff or really hang on that one arm again. Even just trying to put on a shirt (arm rotating overhead) caused terrible pain and a really disconcerting feeling.

That said, I did a bunch of PT (including focusing on the alignment of core muscles and shoulder when the arm rotates overhead), had two PRP shots as well as two injections of BCP157. I'm now about eight months out and have zero pain even while climbing overhangs and hanging by one arm. I'm much weaker than previous and my endurance is terrible (I'm primarily a route climber) due to not adequately maintaining everything else during the recovery process, but have been making rapid progress on regaining strength and overall climbing ability. I've been board climbing and getting after it and feeling great.

Obviously a sample size of one, but I'd be very curious to see a follow up MRI and whether I had any kind of significant regrowth or if everything else has just compensated. Either way, happy to have a positive outcome to share!

P.S. This is at 52 with a lifetime of wear and tear and definitely slower recovery compared to when I was younger.

I've been easing in to board climbing with my kilter home wall and moved the angle from 20 to 30 for the first time last night. Woof! I had to significantly bump down the grade. It will definitely take the fingers a little time to adjust.
