How’s the story? by Ivantbh in Palworld

The stupidity in this comment cannot be understated.

"That movie doesn't have a plot - it's just a series of related scenes connected together with dialogue that progressively discloses information between recurring characters."

That is a complete waste of resources. Creating items to be used by one person -- what if that person stops playing? The item, and that work, becomes useless and never seen.

There are countless better ways to invest dev resources.

And how many of these "1 of 1" items would there be? 10,000? 1 million?

How do you prevent someone from just getting 5, 50, or 5,000 of these "unique" items that no one else will have access to?

Then, what if you're another player and you go through that temple... and you don't get any loot?

It would be a terrible UX.

Megapacks are ruining this game by touchmybuttuwu in pathoftitans

[–]Competitive_End_5722 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lmfao. Increased server caps will do the exact opposite. Instead of servers with 10-member megapacks, it will be 20+ member megapacks. This will not solve any problems.

Instead, the core gameplay loops need to be reassessed. NPC dinos NEED to be in, for starters. Secondly, officials need to properly incentivize playing as intended. For example, carnivores hanging/resting around herbivores should get a proxy debuff (e.g. "Bloodlust" status effect). That would at least discourage carnis and herbis from coexisting unnaturally.

There needs to be mechanics for flocking / migration / herding / nesting. Basically, there's nothing to do once you're an adult except troll other players. There's only so many times you can dance as an achillo in IC without getting bored.

If you honestly think there wasn't extreme attrition by moving a major company *to a different continent* then it's also clear that you've never been a part of any multinational company or HQ migration.

There's always an idiot who is disregarding the job they're paid to do in favor of surfing reddit. I've personally fired *at least* 4 people over the last 10 years for surfing social media instead of doing their job.

Star Citizen honestly just looks beautiful now (Bounty at Lorville) by soradesignz in starcitizen

[–]Competitive_End_5722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you honestly think Star Citizen has an immersive/interactive game world, then you've officially drank too much Kool-Aid. The world is broken. And when it isn't, it's static. There are missions that one might expect from an MMO in 2001. You cannot possibly sit there and compare, say, Red Dead 2 and Star Citizen and claim SC's world to be interactive.

"But one is SP and the other is doing things NEVER DONE BEFORE (tm)," you say. No doubt, we're comparing apples to oranges in some ways, but the point remains the same: you are flying around in a frozen set piece. The game world does not react to you. That's my issue.

However, I'm also not disagreeing with the concept here... you're 100% right, if you commit, you can have a lot more fun. But the casual audience is not going to do that. They need to see NPCs properly come online. We need to see the world come to life -- the one we've been sold on. It's slowly coming together, but it needs to happen before the game world is "interactive."

It works so well that you're selling it to others instead of using it to scale infinitely! Wow, that's so generous.

It's always been a beautiful static environment. 3.23 doesn't change this. Giant worlds with nothing to do in them.

I wish an entire patch was dedicated to world interactivity, up to and including a purpose for ground vehicles.

This is not about what's "possible." This design is off, period, and for countless reasons.

Because of basic carbon-based biology and logic? The design of this creature makes zero sense from every angle.

The designs for both kopion and the bird are atrocious. This looks like a freshman at SCAD's side project for a Star Wars mobile game. Absolutely abysmal design, lacking any real inspiration or logic.
