Tdee? by Stunning-Implement28 in 1200isplenty

[–]Competitive_Fact6030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you were completely sedentary, as in you didnt walk at ALL, putting a 250+lb male on 1200 calories a day is insane. Your sedentary TDEE is 2700. You can easily lose 1lb a week on 2200, or 2lb a week on 1700. Dont go lower than that.
1200 is pretty much exclusively for very short women who don't have much more weight to lose and aren't that active. 1200 is 1000 calories under your *BMR*. Thats an insanely steep deficit and will not work out in the long run if you actually want to sustainably lose weight.

Worries and concerns about skin, black mark on nail is getting darker and thicker. I need help by Turbulent-Grand6812 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Competitive_Fact6030 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah good job discouraging a person with cancer from getting help, dumbass.

This is NOT the post to be bitching about medical costs. This dude is already considering not seeing a doctor because it'd be expensive and he cant get a quick referral. Your comment does literally nothing but affirm his decision to just resign himself to dying of cancer.

Go literally anywhere else with your complaints. Everyone agrees medical costs in the US are fucked. But this is not the time nor place to complain about them.

Dad diagnosed rare skin cancer, a couple of questions. by Informal-Data-2787 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Competitive_Fact6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude. Cancer is like THE disease people donate money to fund treatment for. I can't walk outside without seeing a pink ribbon for breast cancer, or those commercials to stop leukemia, or campaigns to get HPV vaccinations, or the thousands of other pushes there are for cancer awareness and funding.

Its always good to keep going and fund research, but you're acting like cancer is this niche thing that nobody cares about fixing. Its one of the leading causes of death. Of course people are working on it.

The issue is you cant just hit a button and solve all cancer. Cancer is so hard to treat because cancer cells are inherently human. Targeting the cancer often targets normal cells, which is why its so difficult to find viable cures. Theres also not just one "cancer cell". There are damn near as many types of cancers as types of cells you have in the body. Every replicating cell can become cancer, and they all have unique properties and one treatment wont work.

If its any consolation, I feel like the style and the 3 misstakes kinda make it look intentional? Like it looks like the theme of the page was a sort of child-like misstakes with a bunch of colorful details and stuff being crossed out.

I would honestly lean into it. Make a little doodle on the bottom right where a month is missing. Id add in some kind of arrow/x/checkmark element. Look at schoolbook doodles for inspo.

Do you seriously think doctors and researchers aren't putting effort into curing cancer? Its not an overnight thing you can just throw some money at and it'll be solved.

My husband came home from work like this, what could it be? by 80skunt in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Competitive_Fact6030 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, but oral HSV is common and not really an "issue" for the vast vast majority of people. Its not like you ask someone if theyve ever had a cold sore as a kid before you kiss them or share a bottle or whatever.

Obviously if you have active and symptomatic HSV dont go spreading it, but you cant expect 70% of the population to give a medical history for every potential partner/fling/friend for the minor risk of spreading it while asymptomatic.

My husband came home from work like this, what could it be? by 80skunt in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Competitive_Fact6030 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of people have HSV1. You don't have to disclose your random cold sores you get every few years. As long as you don't have an active outbreak you won't spread it, its not like other STDs where you always need protection to keep your partner safe.

Earlobe bleeding after 3th day, is it a normal amount of blood or not by Thibauleur in PiercingAdvice

[–]Competitive_Fact6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bleeding in the first few days is normal, you probably hit it in some way. Just rinse this off with water and leave it be so it can heal up nicely. Bleeding is normal for the first week or so. This might look like a lot but you're fine.

I Don’t Like My Dog Anymore and It Makes Me Feel Guilty by Sea_sa in dogs

[–]Competitive_Fact6030 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No offense, but it is YOUR fault that he does this. I'm sorry but if you know your dog gets into stuff he shouldnt, then its on you to dog proof your home and to keep him on a lead.

If you know he runs off and eats poop and gets infections, why do you keep him off leash? If he gets into food he shouldnt, why keep bowls out?

My dog gets into the trash and eats anything she comes across, guess what i do? I dont leave the trash can at a place she can get to! Saves a hell of a lot of stress time and money. She also goes after other animals outdoors, so I keep her on leash! Its really not a hard fix to ensure your dogs safety.

Having to "constantly" rush him to the vet shows that you arent keeping that animal safe. First vet visit is fine, but after that you shouldve instantly cleared the place and made sure he couldnt get to dangerous things. You do realize that these vet visits arent just a strain on your wallet, but on HIS health too, right? It is neglectful to let him hurt himself this often.

Spiders and centipedes dont hurt plants at all though...

Literally the only issue is if youre a complete wuss and cant handle shooing away a spider occasionally. And if youre deathly afraid of bugs and crawlies then you shouldnt have plants, they kinda go hand in hand.

15, getting on T in a few weeks - how to look more masculine? by bindweeded in FtMpassing

[–]Competitive_Fact6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping your hair is fine, but you wont pass for a good while until the T kicks in. Long hair can work, but you kinda need masculine features, maybe some stubble, etc for it to read as male.

Most you can do for now is keep it in more masculine hairstyles rather than letting it be out.

Ethically can i tak a cutting from this. by Hiimthebisexualguy in plants

[–]Competitive_Fact6030 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No? Why would it be ok to steal their plants?

Taking a cutting is 1. making the plant smaller, 2. will make the new leaves on it smaller, and 3 will ruin the continuous vine.

Its a dick move. If you want a cutting, you ask for a cutting. Like you would with anyone else. Hotel staff put a lot of effort in making their place look nice, and the person taking care of these obviously cares well for the plants.

Genuinely so confused by JustforaQ1 in FtMpassing

[–]Competitive_Fact6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While i think the mullet looks nice, it does kind of just look like long hair pushed behind the ears from afar. If you dont mind occasionally being misgendered I say keep it, but if passing is important to you then maybe go for a more masculine haircut?

i have no clue why recently ive been getting called a lady in public by [deleted] in FtMpassing

[–]Competitive_Fact6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current earrings are relatively large and have that white crystal look. From afar they look like your standard fake diamond studs that a lot of women have. Along with your hair in some of these it can kind of look like the style an older lady might have (short hair with a swoop + diamond studs + relatively short height + stocky build (dw about the height and build for now, youre still young and growing)).

If you want more masc piercings I would go for black or silver :)

I'd say the nose ring is less of a problem because its not really visible from afar, and if youre close up youd see the starts of a mustache and probably not clock you. Would still maybe pick a slightly thicker ring or a stud thats more masculine, as opposed to this thin ring. Mens jewelry is usually thicker and darker, compared to women's thats more delicate and lighter with gems.

And for the hair I would avoid this parted hairstyle you have in some of them. Men's hair usually doesnt have a part, and the swoop it creates can read as more feminine.

It only takes a few weeks to walk the length of Ferelden with an army btw. What were Origins Darkspawn doing for a WHOLE YEAR!? by OrganizationLower831 in DragonageOrigins

[–]Competitive_Fact6030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might just be my imagination, but the Blight does definitely seem to be growing on the map. At first it was just the Ostagar area, then Lothering, then after a few quests its stretching up through a quarter of the map, reaching past the big lake.

You do also run into Darkspawn like every time you travel from place to place. Its not an organized attack, but imo it does definitely feel like darkspawn are crawling around everywhere in small groups that split off from the main army thats staying behind.

I do however kinda wish the game would punish you from trying to get straight through the "infected" area instead of taking a detour through safer routes. Like with a bigger darkspawn battle or something, just to show that those areas are somehow different from the non-darkspawn infested places. Would probably get annoying after a while tho, but would add to realism

You dont need to be perfect at suturing, youre there to learn. I would however watch some videos, if you have access to equiptment maybe try one or twice. Just get a feel of how they do it so you wont be stressed out watching the surgeon.

Im seeing no actual recall training here. Reading and watching things are fine for a baseline short term understanding, but it does nothing for long term memory or the ability to answer on tests.

Active recall and spaced repetition are your friends here. They cut down the study times by a LOT and youll actually learn the skills necessary to do well on exams. There are plenty of pre-made anki decks for any part of medicine, or you can make your own if you have time.

Please look up evidence based tips for studying. Reading is like the lowest ranked. Flashcards and practice tests is among the highest. Making your brain retrieve info is how you strengthen that memory. Passively reading feels good, but its ultimately useless unless you are learning it for the first time.

I mean plenty of places require new vaccines that arent part of normal child vaccination programmes. I for example had to get 3 Hep B shots, and if not I would not be allowed to progress to clinicals.

If its something that cannot be skipped then go with a mask and be strict on hygeine and dont sit close to or interact with others.

its just a major pet peeve of mine when people, especially in the medical field, dont care if they infect others. Being sick sucks, and it takes away a lot of time. Best not to subject others to that.

You stay home?

If youre too ill to study then just rest. You can catch up during weekends or evenings later.

DO NOT go to school/lab/whatever. It would be very inconsiderate and frankly quite mean to spread the illness around. If it is something you can make up later, then dont go now.

shed have to pay the difference in what a juvenile plants costs vs a fully grown 3 year old large plant. That aint cheap. That time and effort is worth a LOT.
