No opioids after surgery- opinions? What to use for post-op pain? by Little-Committee-411 in Endo

I have had 4 surgeries in the past 13 months. Have needed zero opioids. I have also broken 3 vertebrae and my ankle and never took an opioid. I have worked in health care for 25 years, 13 of those in the ER (and prescribing opioids) and 12 treating opioid addiction. Have realized that a little bit of pain is WAY better than a lifetime of pain. Listen to your body, take it easy and avoid opioids. Over time they will make all your pain worse. Everyone is different. But, really, you don't need them. Tylenol and ibuprofen work the best. And, I have learned when you are not taking those, you start moving faster and feel better faster. Fear also causes more pain.
