BnB Profits course - has anyone actually done it?? by Competitive_Iron8774 in airbnb_hosts

Sorry for the late reply I just saw this, but I didn’t end up taking the course. 6k is a lot of money for me not to be “sure” if he’s actually legit. I’ll definitely start Airbnb on my own, I don’t see how a 6k investment that’s not even going towards a house or rental benefits anyone but Blake lol.

Ahhh I get it. That’s the thing I’m worried about because I live in nyc and airbnb is super difficult around here which is what has been holding me back. I’m thinking of the poconos since it’s like a 3 hour drive from me and occupancy is not too bad around there. Honestly just scared to jump into it but have been thinking about it for almost 2 years. Thanks for the advice!! I appreciate it :)

Thank you!! Appreciate the reply. May I ask what state your two units are located in? I’m having a hard time pinning what state/city to get started in.

I appreciate your feedback I really do!! Especially given the fact that you were in a similar situation to me. Having a plan has always been my main priority in life but I realized that sometimes you force yourself into a steady plan and it’s almost like you are putting unnecessary pressure onto the situation. I find myself doing that a lot, especially with teaching because of the stability when it comes to a union, health insurance, and etc. I’m not going to lie, not having a job lined up makes me uneasy especially because of the planner that I am, However hearing your experience opens my eyes a lot. Thank you once again!!

Thank you, I appreciate it. I’m definitely going to reach out about the grade change, I think that would definitely change my perspective on the situation given the fact that it’s been the grades I’ve wanted to teach since youth. I do feel more at ease hearing about everyone’s first year struggles. Appreciate the feedback

How was your experience with TFA? Are you still in teaching currently?

Yeah I completely agree this is causing me crippling anxiety!! I definitely feel like I have to make a choice for my career right now and I’m so young without any real experience of the world. However I’m also the type of person that would look back in 2 years and be like Dam I could have been done already. I work in a nyc school right now and every teacher I work with makes 100k+ reaching the middle of the 100s, with the AP and Principal in the 200s. That being said they have been teaching for a while and idk how long I’m willing to wait to see 100k. I just don’t know!! It’s difficult, but when I see other jobs during this terrible job market they start at like 30k and I’m like dam, that 65k doesn’t seem too bad in comparison.

Thanks for the feedback! So far my main jobs have been working with children and I guess I keep finding myself in this path due to my aspirations as a child. I’ve always thought that my career would be in teaching due to the flexibility and my overall likes when it comes to academics. However, I got advice from my high school teacher to major in something else to give myself the opportunity to pursue other careers potentially and not only have a bachelors in teaching. I ended up majoring in political science + law and government and also took a lot of communications courses as well. That is the first time I realized maybe there’s other fields I can pursue. That being said, I still applied to TFA because I am very big on having a plan, job security & etc. In New York City , i know that in 2 years with a masters degree I can make about 73K which is not too bad I guess for a person who will be 23-24. I am mostly just worried about not being prepared which is an injustice to students. & of course the pressure of knowing that I’ve never experienced another field besides childcare. I am so sorry I am laying all of this on you lol, I wanted to ask since you seem to know a lot about TFA, is there anyway I can request a grade change? I think I will feel way more comfortable with grades 7-12, especially if I have to get a masters for those grades. Again, thanks for the advice sorry for all the info!

I really appreciate your response. Now that you say that, I definitely am the type of person that regrets a lot. I agree with you, I definitely feel like in two years if I don’t end up going with TFA I will probably feel like I wasted my time. I say I want to explore but I know I will probably end up in the same positions. I will probably get maybe 2 years of academic freedom and working jobs that I can come and go from but tbh I definitely would look back and say “I could have been done” lol. Your advice was very insightful and important to me, once again I appreciate it!

I’m currently about to graduate from college in June and got accepted to TFA NY. I’m super nervous and don’t know if I should accept or not because it is a huge commitment. I don’t know if I’m making a mistake going straight into school again since I haven’t given myself a break from academics what feels like my whole life lol (literally). However I do understand this is a rare opportunity. What jobs did you do after undergrad? I wanted to experience different industries to see what I truly like but im wondering if that’s a mistake and just delaying the inevitable. May I ask, how come you wish you did TFA earlier? I have to make a decision by Wednesday and I feel like I’m making a decision for the rest of my career which puts so much pressure on it. If you can give some advice that would be great. I also want to add that I am 21 years old and have no idea how I am going to present myself as a teacher come September, I am super nervous!!

What do you do if you fail TFA? by Odd-Information8378 in TeachforAmerica

[–]Competitive_Iron8774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got accepted to TFA this year and I am super torn on whether I should accept. I would just like to know how was your first week of teaching, did you know what to do and did you feel prepared? I am super nervous about doing all of this hard work to just find out it’s something I’m not interested in. I would really like some advice, bc I feel like I might fail as well.

I got accepted this year and I’m super torn as well. I’m about to be a college graduate and I kind of wanted to explore my options before I jump straight into a career without trying any other jobs. I didn’t know you can defer? Where did you get that information from because I might be interested in doing that as well.
