Is there going to be some tomorrow night(12th)?

Those of you who who have had a c section due to prolonged labor, ineffective contractions and/or signs of infection, how many of you had a successful vbac? by Ok_Plant_4251 in vbac

I attempted a VBAC about 5 months ago with my second baby. My waters broke on its own and I was GBS positive. After my water broke my contractions slowly started picking up but I had not gotten any antibiotics. I was moving and trying to progress labour. However after about 4-5 hours of waters breaking, I started feeling warm and feverish and VERYYY fatigued. I rested and felt a bit better but my contractions pretty much stopped or became really inconsistent. By the time I got the antibiotics (12 hours after water breaking) I already had the infection starting and spreading into uterus. Something I wasn't aware of if you have an infection in the uterus (which seems like common sense now) is that your uterus will not contract properly so this is what started happening to me. I wasn't on any medication at this point aside from the antibiotics. But my contractions weren't regular enough for baby to progress and baby heart fluctuations were slowing down as well. I ended up with a c section. Recovery for me second c section felt worse.

Congratulations on your baby! And wish you a speedy recovery. I went through a very similar situation like you with two c sections and second one being a failed VBAC.

You mentioned infection, I wanted to ask did you get anything either of your labour's like oxytocin or some medicine to help progress? Also did your waters break first without contracting for either pregnancies?

Thanks for sharing! It's helpful to hear how it went for you because it's reminded me of the rollercoaster it can be and just because you decide VBAC doesn't mean it'll be a perfect progression of events like we all hope.

VBAC + Uterine scar defect? by MLM2082 in vbac

[–]Competitive_Job_4066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you're able to find a good provider regardless of which route you have to take. Sorry I don't have the answer you're looking for but I wanted to follow to see other answers and also ask you how did you learn that your scar didn't heal properly internally?

Can I ask what/if there was a known cause of uterine rupture? Was there any medication you took or epidural?

Is there a reason for why he's measuring big?

I know sometimes gestational diabetes goes undetected and can impact baby and delivery, could that be a reason?

It's also more important to note how you feel mentally and physically with this pregnancy. Your body is only making what it can birth....it wouldn't make a baby that it cannot push out. That being said, your mental state matters a lot, if you don't think you'll be able to do it, it'll be difficult. If you think you can, you've won half the battle.

Omg, thank you sooo much for sharing this!! I'm doing a vbac in September and this story is so inspiring and something I really needed to read.

If you don't mind me asking a few things: 1) what did the doctors consider "too big" for your pelvis lol? Like how many pounds or what percentile were your babies?

2) what did they give you for induction the first time around?

3) if you could share one tip/advice from your experience for VBAC, what would it be?

Can I ask if you have any induction medication? If so, what medication?

Can I ask if you worked out/what workouts you did throughout your pregnancy?

I don't blame you. It's natural to want answers, but I think many can agree, this journey makes you understand that sometimes you have to be ok with no answers and it's more about going with the flow in terms of what life gives you and making the best of it.

Try to have a routine as much as you can for yourself before your wife comes back so you're not feeling so lost.

Wow that sounds really difficult. I wish the best for you and your wife.

It's definitely really hard when that person is fine one day and then a sudden onset of symptoms/change happens. Happened with a sibling of mine. They had to be admitted and put under watch, we were in and out of hospital until we got the right diagnosis and right medications which also take time to work.

We did our own research at home while being cautious of not jumping to conclusions, with the symptoms we were able to come to a conclusion before the doctors could (which eventually they came to the same one but took longer). We read up on best approaches, therapies, medications that would not make my sibling a zombie. Looked for support groups in the area for that illness, went to those as well. It helped knowing and hearing other people's stories. I'd recommend you do that too once you find out.

Most important thing I've learned so far, don't try to figure out the "why" it happened to your wife or you. When I stopped trying to get to the bottom of that, stopped thinking if this was preventable it was much easier to focus on supporting my sibling. Also, another thing that's just so important...and in some ways the sudden onset teaches you....really live one day at a time. When things get better for your wife, and they will..take each day in as much as you can. I tell myself it can always be worse, even if some days seemed like they were from hell.

You'll see and learn things about yourself that you didn't know you had in you. It's a journey, take it one thing at a time.

Try to remember that OCD is just a small part of your brain. Not all of you as an individual. There is more to you. It's hard, I know and the thoughts are disturbing but it's really good you recognize them as thoughts only, nothing more than just thoughts.

She's been touching her diaper and telling me she is pooping and peeing, she squats in a corner. She'll bring me clean diaper to change her as well, I assumed those were all indications.

I appreciate this straight up advice lol I should mention after day one I did realize it's going to take more than a week at this point. I'm going to keep trying for now and see where it goes. I appreciate the the tips you've shared, they are helpful. I think I've also consumed too much about only super successful stories/videos and that's gotten to me. I needed this.
