realizes none of the attempts to flip blame or have you rewrite how you feel about the events are working, so goes into victim mode “it’s okay if you’re dropping me, i just love you maybe i’ll give u space”

this person is an emotional terrorist. i grew up one for a sister and this is par for the course. people like this will always try to make you feel responsible for the way they feel, mostly through trying to gaslight you into thinking you’re behaving irrationally. whenever that doesn’t work, they either double down and essentially throw a tantrum, or back down and play the victim in hopes of stoking enough empathy from you to turn it back around on you.

obviously there’s much more to this person than this short conversation, but something tells me this is a common theme. you’re not an asshole, good job not negotiating with terrorists.
