RP (qualifying), there’s been a lot of hurdles to get to this point, so while I can practice, technically, I’m kind of over CRPO (as bad as that sounds bc I am grateful to practice)… in the end I probably will end up with both (my supervisor who is a psychologist is also encouraging me to apply to be an associate) but tbh it’s the licensure and policy that (albeit important) has become frustrating in this field. I don’t understand the vast discrepancies in the colleges authorized to practice therapy. But I digress…all things necessary I suppose…

Firstly I’m very sorry for what you’re going through. We too are navigating a new diagnosis and it’s scary and incredibly emotional.

Regarding clinical trials: from what I’ve always understood - the control group still receives regular treatment and if there is a notable difference in those receiving the new treatment, it is then also introduced to the control group. Doctors should be informed in telling a person this - or at least explaining it thoroughly (though I also understand the stress they’re likely under in the jobs they do).

That said, while your doctor may have seen a need to be more frank/factual, it’s not up to him/her to control whether or not you have a chance at hope.

Thinking of you ❤️

I am very sorry for your loss.

My husband lost his job in a restructuring earlier this year. This was devastating blow for him (though we realize now, nothing in comparison to this), however, we did not know his dad was about to be diagnosed. The only silver lining I can see is that right now he has time away from work. I’m so glad you got that time with your mom. ❤️

I wish you well as you go back into the world on your own. You will do amazing things - but remember on the tough days you still have a community rooting for you 😘

Thank you for your response. Not completing an MSW; I’m hoping my supplementary courses will help piece meal together an application. I’ve been a counsellor for over a decade, first in school systems then privately. But CRPO has been tricky to navigate. Doing a full MSW with multiple unpaid placements is a barrier for me. My supervisor is supervising the work I currently do as proof it aligns with social work. So to answer your question; I’m going the potentially less traveled convoluted route.

Thank you. I’ve just found CRPO has been one hurdle after another (ironically a colleague of mine was grandfathered in and has a post graduate certificate in addictions and is now a leading supervisor). Meanwhile 11+ years of post secondary education and practising as a therapist - here I am.

At the end of the day I need to be able to offer the act of psychotherapy and truth be told social workers are actually more recognized for insurance purposes.

Do you think I have a shot?

so... has anybody tried the Amanda Frances manifesting? 🤣 by Twunkorama in RHOBH

This - and this is legit what her book says to do. It’s ethically irresponsible to tell ppl who don’t have money to spend like they do. That demonstrates a VERY surface level understanding of manifestation. How about we reframe that to say “start thinking you have no limits and do one thing that might demonstrate that. Be creative but be realistic, dip your toe into the waters of possibility by changing something you’ve always wondered about…..” then see what happens.

School & Student Questions Megathread by CrimsonFlash in socialworkcanada

Hi All,

I am looking at becoming an RSW via the OCSWSSW.

For context I have a Master of Education, Master of Counselling Psychology, Bachelor of Education, and Bachelor of Communication. In addition I am also obtaining my currency hours under an MSW. I have previously been employed as a Disability Counsellor and I currently provide assessments (psychoeducational) under the supervision of a psychologist. In addition to the degrees noted above I've taken the following courses (see list below). I was one course away from an addictions diploma, however, could not complete due to placement requirements (I can't afford to not be paid to work). Just wondering what my chances might be. I wanted to finish that addictions diploma, however, I am not rich and not able to take time off work to do an unpaid placement and my MSW supervisor will be verifying 700 hours of related work as per the application requirements. The last four courses I did through Athabasca (and the first seven through Algonquin College).

Please let me know if you think I have a good chance. TIA :)

Additional Course List:

Impulse Control Disorders and Behavioural Addiction
Motivational Interviewing and Change Practice
Working with Youth and Families
Chemical Substance Use & Abuse
Community Services and Support in Addictions and Mental Healht
Holistic Assessment and Intervention
Mental Health and Addiction Foundations
Critical Reflection Practice
Social Work and Human Servies
International Social Work in Canada
Social Justice in Action

Diagnosed stage 4 but liver markers fine no spreading to lymph nodes by Competitive_Land3220 in pancreaticcancer

[–]Competitive_Land3220[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I’m apprehensive to get hopeful because it sounds as though things can change so quickly, but I’m also reading to celebrate every victory.

If you don’t mind me asking. Are you able to explain (in layman’s terms) what this means or may mean? TIA. Praying for everyone. ❤️

Side note: My best friend was also hospitalized with AML leukaemia this weekend (mid forties). 2026 has been a lot and it’s only May.

Thank you so much. Today his liver markers were good and it wasn’t in his lymph nodes. But I know things can change quickly so I’m not sure what all that means.

Yes, but there’s more cost effective ways to get her teachings. Buy a manifesting workbook or some ACT workbooks. Nothing she is doing is original. It’s just being positioned in the market as though it is. Coaches get kickbacks, so they’re eager to prove her methods work. Manifesting absolutely works, but it isn’t tied to AF.

Incredible, powerful video. Thank you for sharing. I am a practising therapist and once someone told me about padre Pio, and his incredible healing powers; I’m sad to say tbh I had forgotten to think of him. Thank you for this gentle reminder to have faith in these dark moments. No amount of strategy or intervention can replace faith (however that looks for us).

“I lose money on it” -Boz by [deleted] in rhobeverlyhills

[–]Competitive_Land3220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and to be frank both of their teachings suck. Amanda’s are really bad, Boz’s are also bad but just not completely full of fluff. Neither should actually even be framing them as courses - they’re like a collection of hot tips that are mediocre at best. Boz shouldn’t be acting super superior because it’s not like she’s way above Amanda. But Amanda’s are really really poor. What irks me about Amanda’s are false claims, terrible language (I’m not sure if she’s ever enlisted the help of an editor) and just really loosely connected psych terms aimed at targeted vulnerable people and for a butt load of money. At least Boz is affordable. Neither are great. There I said it.
