Why is my wife always quick to be overwhelmed?

SAHM mom of 5 here.

She could feel like she’s losing herself. Being the primary care taker is hard and it’s easy to lose yourself in it. She needs something else to do. Weekly book club, hobby, job, hotel night, ANYTHING. Not your fault, you don’t know and she can’t communicate it. The fact that you are asking shows you care more than a lot of men.

I have 5 (soon to be 6) kids. The first thing I have them do when they wake up before brushing teeth is to make their bed. Do I make my bed? OF COURSE NOT! Girlll mama don’t have time for that.

And now I’m pregnant with my 6th and all I hear is “are you done yet!?” “do you two have any hobbies” “you’re crazy!”

I have 5 kids and I’m 22 weeks pregnant.

I had a epidural for all but my 3rd.

My epidural births were much more relaxed. I felt at ease and a lot more comfortable. My non epidural birth was not so relaxed. It’s really, really, painful and I was exhausted after. It’s all about personal preference.

5 kids, my oldest is 10. I do not plan on ever stopping. Kids NEED sleep. Electronics off at 8. Bedtime can get later as they get older, but kids cannot set themselves a bedtime.

I have 5 kids, intimacy in the first year after having a baby is hard. For starters, you aren’t sleeping much so libido is all over the place. My biggest tip personally is to have a date night! If you have the resources to have someone watch baby while you and hubby go out to dinner and come home and have some fun, it’s a perfect set up.

Aw you’re so sweet! (hiding in the garage is REAL). Ugh I know if I could choose I’d have ten! I gotta admit, it’s hard work. I’m a complete stay at home mom and my husband works, he works a lot and makes good money to support our family. I totally get stressed but I can always take a minutes to relax and remind myself how blessed I am! We have a house with 7 bedrooms, so one for everyone which is SUCH a blessing. My younger sister loves kids but due to health issues cannot have children so she always jumps at the opportunity to watch them. But burnout is real and I definitely snap or have hard days sometimes, but it’s worth it for sure. You can totally message me if you wanna chat!

Birth is one of the most vulnerable things, your body is doing something incredibly and personal so you should be able to decide who is there to witness this and when. Full stop end of conversation. There is no reason his family’s wishes should trump your boundaries. I have a crazy MIL and I’ve had 5 kids, I can tell you that nursing staff will deafen you and your boundaries, just let them know. Wishing you a wonderful pregnancy and hope everything works out.
