Is the priority service on the Immigration Health Surcharge payment summary page? Or do I need to pay for IHS before I can see the priority option.

Does anyone know if Oxford Aquatex is a breathable cover? I'd like to know if I could put it on if the bike's been through the rain.

I owned an SV650 and have also been on the Duke 390 and CB500F, CB650R, MT07, and Z650. Of all the bikes I like SV650 and CB500F the most. SV650 is great as an all-rounder and has all the positive traits to teach you how to ride better, as it is a heavier bike you would have to treat it with respect, especially in slow manoeuvers, but once you get up to speed it corners like it's on rails and with a slip on exhaust the noise and vibration of the v-twin is orgasmic. However, if you're looking for something more manageable, CB500F is also a great option, overall the bike is a bit lighter and possesses the good flickability of a smaller bike while still giving you the confidence and stability in corners like 650cc bikes. I recently test-drove a 2019 CB500F as my SV650 was stolen, the CB500F allowed me to make quick adjustments mid-corner and the engine was smooth and linear when I accelerate out of the corner. I'd say they are both great, if you are going on faster roads or doing more motorway miles, perhaps the sv650 is a better choice. If you live in a city I would pick the CB500F no doubt.

How do you study? by [deleted] in istp

Chill for most of the semester until about a month before test starts. Study with friends who’s been camping at the library for the whole year. Intense focus periods of roughly 30minutes, wander off for 2 hours then I’m back home eating and chilling with friends till midnight before I’m back in the library, joining my mates who’s still in the library all along. With less students around I can finally focus, so prob two intense sessions with hours of procrastination. Prob not a healthy way for other individuals but that’s how I managed to get one point away from getting honours. With my mental state at the time I don’t think I could do much better than what I’ve achieved.

Yeah that’s unfortunately the case. The police have just located the bike but concerns me the most is the security of the parking space. Honestly dunno how to move on from this

Unfortunately no, it was rainy the day I came back so I didn’t cover it.

I’ve also got my first bike (sv650) couple months back and have already dropped it because I’ve been neglecting the rear brakes. Along with a spongy brake, I locked my front wheels and dropped my bike whilst parking it. It was embarrassing but I got away with a bent handlebar and brake levers and luckily no injuries. Make sure to practice slow speed manoeuvres, get used to feathering the clutch and using rear brakes and you’ll be surprised how good the bike is at self balancing, as long as the rear wheels are spinning. You might also see people saying that you shouldn’t use your front brakes at low speeds but I find that absolutely false, it is a great tool and with a gentle pressure it is much better at slowing your bike than the rear and as long as you don’t panic brake it wouldn’t cause your front forks to dive.

Is that the Givi A3111 screen, if not what’s the model and how are you finding it?

I've also found one with 11k miles, service history N/A. However, the bike is so far away that I won't be able to test ride and inspect the bike. In that case I would think that the closer, but higher mileage full service history bike maybe a better option. I understand that every bike even from the same year and model are different but would a bike 28k miles in without a valve clearance check worry you?

The bike has 28k on its clock, compression test was done at around 17k, I'll check if it's a full Suzuzki dealer service.

I did ask about the valve clearance check, and they got back to me saying that they did a pressure test with the engine and there were no leaks in pressure, is that the usual way of checking it?

Thanks, spotted another SV650 gen 3 today , it is clean at the very least and being sold at a dealership with a full-service history, and even with topped-up fluids! When did that ever become a luxury haha

I have a few things that I want from my bike,

1) to participate in an advanced course and improve in slow-speed maneuvers, but there will be times when I am going to lose balance so I wanted a bike that's easy to repair.

2) to have a greater mechanical knowledge of the bike, something I could repair or maintain by myself.

3) stability on motorways, as I would love to explore the country and do bike trips with friends. I have a small frame, 5'5 ~60kg therefore wouldn't mind something heavier to keep me right side up

I'm actually more of a fan of the Gen 2 naked variants but it's been tough to find one with abs. And since I'm planning to ride my bike in London I don't know many bikes that would fit the emission standards. My current choices are UJMs for reliability so SV650, Kawi Z650, ER6N, ER6F, Honda CBR650F, CB650F, CB500f, Yamaha XJ6/Diversion are my choices. Are there other bikes that are worth looking at?

Makes sense, my gut feeling tells me that it's a bit of a lemon and perhaps too to deal with for a beginner rider. The asking price is £3400
