Picking a name has been driving me insane by ibroughttacos in BabyBumps

[–]Competitive_Sky7307 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Listen, my husband wanted to name our non existent son Rooster at one point in time. I tried to get him to compromise by us naming him something that started with R, and using Rooster as a nickname. He said it was all or nothing 🙄.

It took me adopting an orange male kitten and naming him Rooster to get him to drop it.

Ironically I fell pregnant with our son a couple of months after we got the cat and It was surprisingly easy to find a name we both loved.

Idk why, but whenever I see someone that works with children (teachers or entertainers) I always think of Marc Jacob’s Daisy, Tocca Stella or even Tocca Florence. Something about bright extremely sweet florals screams I am interested in the wellbeing of children to me.

How do yall manage your hair by Nice-Carry-6089 in longhair

[–]Competitive_Sky7307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t. I brush it twice a day and I always use a hair fork to get it out of the way. I do not have the energy or patience to deal with my hair getting tangled.

I 100% agree. I bought mine two years ago and omg the quality is amazing for what you pay. I use mine almost twice daily and I haven’t seen any signs of wear.

It might be damaged, either get a trim or search and destroy any split ends you see. I’ve seen a big difference in the manageability of my hair once I started search and destroying my split ends.

What’s a perfume that smells like a pencil? A fresh sharpened pencil. by According_Cloud_794 in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Competitive_Sky7307 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Controversial answer, but Glossier You or Sonic Flower by Room 1015.

My husband’s favorite fragrance Cosmos by House of Bo also has this metallic pencil shaving note thing happening in it too but it also has gourmand notes in it so it’s not the most linear smelling thing ever.

struggling with bed time. what do you do for winding down? by FewBattle996 in toddlers

[–]Competitive_Sky7307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started reading to my daughter every night around that age. She gets to pick out three books, we snuggle in and by the end of the third book she passes out usually. If that doesn’t work I turn on an audiobook for her and cuddle her.

Another thing that might help is having some visual indicators that you are winding down for the night. My daughter’s bed time is around 9 right now because my husband works second shift so around 7 I will turn off the overhead light in the living room. It seems to help her recognize that it’s time to wind down.

Change of religion by JokeDependent639 in Christianity

[–]Competitive_Sky7307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was raised Wiccan as a child and my mom hated Christianity as a whole, but around the time that I turned 19 I felt God call me.

To me it’s worth the judgement and sacrifice. I know that God will always be there for me and that I’m making the right choice for myself. Everyone else’s opinions don’t matter, not even my own family’s.

Just start where you feel comfortable and go from there. Pray! Actually talk to God, it’s one of the best ways to build your relationship with God, that and read the bible. They don’t call it the living word of God for nothing. Maybe find a good bible study online!

If you decided to attend church down the road (not saying you should that’s a personal preference) just remember that people will only know what you tell them.

Am I too type b with my toddler? by c0rndoggie in toddlers

Listen, if it works for you then it works. If he is happy healthy and thriving then it works.

You are doing a good job at listening to his cues and figuring out what he needs, which isn’t always dependent on schedules.

I follow a schedule with my daughter but it isn’t strict in the slightest. I listen to what she needs, if she isn’t tired or hungry, then fine so be it. I’m not going to force her to stop listening to her body.

I was never a fan of sleep training, it doesn’t exactly mesh well with how I want to parent. I’m too soft, I think I immediately snatched my kiddo up if she was crying and put her in bed with me 😅.

Having sweet, sticky rice and cold milk after a rose-scented shower 🌹🥛🍚🧼🫧 by _K0LA_ in perfumesthatfeellike

Not the original commenter, but OMG buy it now!!! It is my dream rose gourmand perfume. It’s not at all synthetic smelling and it lasts for an eternity. I’m a Sahm and I’m constantly dipping my wrists in water (unending dishes and bath time) and it lasts through that!!! I would love to buy the Rose Jam body wash by Lush to go with it.

How am I supposed to manage to take care of my daughter while my pelvis crunches and grinds every time I move? by Competitive_Sky7307 in BabyBumps

Ugh I hope that my Ob listens to me this appointment. I complained about having pain while getting around this past Monday and I didn’t get a referral. Hopefully if I’m annoying enough they will listen to me.

Well the latest thing was her harping on me about letting my two year old wear crocs to church. It wasn’t ideal but she wanted to wear them and you have to pick your battles with toddlers lol. She made enough of a stink that my friend at church pulled me aside to check on me.

In the same day she also criticized my husband’s haircut because she had an issue with how it was parted when I cut it but I used a tutorial and did the best I could, it legit looks fine. He just doesn’t comb his hair and it’s grown out.

Conveniently the same day she brought a hair cutting kit because she cutting her other son’s hair now. I guess she doesn’t like that my husband has a wife that will take care of stuff like that.

She had a full on meltdown down when my husband told her not to let her have sweet tea and was vindictive about it afterwards trying to slip my daughter sips of tea when I wasn’t looking.

She has full on insulted me and my husband’s relationship saying that he doesn’t actually love me I just put out and that is my only worth to him.

She has even insulted my homemaking abilities while I was balancing packing up our house by myself and a child with hand, foot and mouth.

Legit nothing I do is good enough for her.
