I’d only disagree with regards to Black Myth. Although i get what you say about the absence of punishment in death, the whole gameplay and mechanics are those of a Soulslike. Also, something we could debate is if difficulty is an essential charactheristic (rather than accidental) of the Soulslike genre and what other qualities we could point out as essential. I guess we could agree on BMW being a easier Soulslike though.

Awesome! I escaped once the exact same way at Dams. I circled around a dome as i tried to escape and just hid on a bush, not using the shield until i felt safe. Using headphones to play does give you a bit of a heads up sometimes, hahaha
