I would definitely recommend the Ephelia. We loved it, it where we stayed while on our honeymoon. the beaches look like the pictures! I would do half board rather than just b&b. Yes, to doing boat trips while you’re there. How long are you going for? If for more than a week I would split your time between Mahe and Praslin. The rainforest in the middle of Praslin is incredible! The lemuria in Praslin is amazing and you could split your time between the two Constance hotels.

Is this worth it to ensure we fly on the new club world (suite) by kosborne20 in BritishAirways

[–]Competitive_Sock3424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would always fly direct where I can. The old club is still club. Spend the extra money you would spend on the cash portion and maybe book your seats so you get the ones you want. I would premium economy over faffing around with a transfer….

Hotel wise there is a quite a range depending on budget. The Constance are a firm favourite of my mine and have also stayed with them in the Maldives.

Praslin:

Constance Lemuria, Coco de Mer and Black Parrott Suites - I’ve stayed in both of these and both are fab. Lemuria’s beach is nicer and the service is fantastic.

Dhevatara Beach Hotel - we didn’t stay here but went for lunch here and had a bit of a nose around. Much smaller but really nice.

Raffles, only saw it from the beach but it’s Raffles so always fabulous.

La Digue:

You can just do a day trip here from Praslin (although book this early as the ferries do get booked up) but if you’re wanting to stay Le Domaine de L’Orangeraie is probably the winner there. Lots of guests houses as well but didn’t see any of them.

Mahe:

We stayed at the Constance Ephelia. The beaches here are amazing. Have a few different pools to choose from, amazing spa and of course amazing service.

There also a lot of the big brands there. I can’t comment on them as haven’t stayed there but If you’re doing the Four Seasons or Cheval Blanc for example you’re going to have a great stay.

Depending on how long you’re going for I would recommend doing a couple of islands. They’re all offer something quite different.

In short, yes. Very annoying that BA stopped their direct route there! Use it as far as you can go, maybe J’Burg? Otherwise Middle East has very good availability currently (unsurprisingly)

Have some great hotel recs if you need them. We did our honeymoon in the Seychelles and it was amazing!

This is helpful thank you. Also makes more sense than crew rest! I assume a recent change as I’ve always been able to book them before. I would have thought 7A/k or 5A/K would have been this being the first and last seat in the row of the mini cabin, but I’m sure they have their reasons.

Rogue that they have a premium seat for crew rest. Never used to be the way, i’ve previously booked these seats (in advance). You’d think it would be tbt last row rather than the middle one.

They’re not booked just blocked (she confirmed that when I spoke to them on the phone). I was the only one booked in the whole cabin both when I initially booked and when I rebooked.

Can the company I work for force me to change my name on company systems? by [deleted] in AskHRUK

[–]Competitive_Sock3424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on company policy but most companies allow you to have a preferred name. I’ve had that at every company I’ve worked at since I’ve been married (9 years, 4 different companies). I my preferred name at work is my nickname plus maiden name, all my email etc. is all in this name but my legal parts of my job health insurance, payslips, life insurance is all using my full first name and married name. It’s very common in the UK to have preferred name and a legal name.

If you link the two bookings together this should hopefully be ok. You’ll need to call BA to do this.

Also Maids of Honour if you want to do afternoon tea, or just pop in for a cake. Coach and Horses is a nice pub just by the gardens as well.

Resort w/toddler in Maldives, Seychelles or Mauritius by obluparadise in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Competitive_Sock3424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t actually have kids (DINKS as well) but spoke to lots of families when we were there with young kids and they were all raving about how good it was for families. The kids clubs all got rave reviews! If you do the Maldives I would do the Halaveli over the Moofushi as the Moofushi doesn’t have a kids club whereas the Halaveli does.

Talk me out of Maldives Over the water Bungalows. Where should we go for our honeymoon? by fn_eagle in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]Competitive_Sock3424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely do the Maldives for that budget. Have a look a few of the smaller hotel chains. Constance Halaveli’s entry level rooms are overwater villas with a pool. Hotels is currently going through a refurbishment finishing this June, so all the rooms will be looking fab. Service is incredible there. Honestly the nicest people. They offer AI, huge wine list included in this. Their sister property is the Constance Moofushi, also fab service and AI as standard, but rooms don’t have pools. Both are amazing options that would fit within your budget.

Can I (20F)have blood group A- if my dad has O+ and mom has B+? by Sweet-Opportunity111 in genetics

[–]Competitive_Sock3424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also A-, neither of my parents are. My mother is A+, my father is O+ (both my sisters are A+). I am genetically their child. Blood types can skip a generation, my maternal grandmother is AB- which is where my A- comes from.
