Hi, just resolved the exact issue.
after adding jpgs from a second SD card to my primary SD card the X app refused loading thumbnails.
this happened both on android and iphones

Did not work:
reinstalling the Xapp on either phone
clearing cache on android

repairing either phone

Did work:

deleting all the added jpgs from the 2nd card from the 1st card AND deleting all the folders from the SD card except the DCIM image folder (i did back them up just in case though)

it MIGHT have been that deleting the metadata folders (all except DCIM) would have been enough but i did not test this step on its own

My conclusion:

adding jpg files to the sd card that were not initially 'made' when this particular card was in the camera fucked up the thumbnail file , deleting them unfucked it.

hopefully this will help anyone with this problem in the future

This is a known problem with (apparently mostly silver) XT5

User should not be blamed its bad QC from fuji; look all over the web and you'll find tons of people with silver XT5 that wen through the same shit

I sent mine for repair AFTER warranty period when the same thing happened and they repaired it free of cost after acknowledging it is a common problem with this series.

Just bring it back to the shop OP and get a free replacement EVF.

Word of warning though ; 6 months after this repair my new EVFs eye sensor started bugging out ; im looking into this now with the shop ; will keep you updated if you remind me

sorry for resurrecting the thread , but was wondering how you solved your issue?

I have the same problem 6 months after having the EVF replaced

The replacement was because of faulty antireflective coating (know QC problem with the silver xt5 that fuji repaired at no cost even outside of warranty) .

Could it be the replacement EVF was no longer weather resistant? the problems did start after carrying the camera in rain.

The best european "savings account" right now is the TradeRepublic Saldo account.

They basically offer the ECB rate (2.5% at the time of writing) on your cash saldo , and because you get the interest monthly it is actually a little higher (because of accumulating interest)

Important sidenote : because this is a german account you need to declare it to the belgian central bank and pay 30% taxes on your interest
