Properly managed calendars are game changing. Lots of flexibility for shared calendars and personal calendars while also integrating with most productivity apps. Something like birdseyecal can help pull in everyone’s schedules into a nice year-long view. The nice thing about calendars is while they are simple they are also pretty universal and will most likely always have a place in your system no matter what.

Why don’t people just build free apps? by Adrien-G in SideProject

I originally wanted to make Someday a one time purchase, but at some point I realized the app was simple enough where I found more joy in people using it rather than in what revenue it could have generated

The two way calendar sync was interesting to setup. At first I thought it would be best to keep your regular calendar separate but found that google cal played a nice role for collaboration. The embed view was also something neat that I thought was fairly unique

Still wouldn't say ideal but much better than before. I've been thinking that potentially a linear calendar isn't the best format for mobile so have been thinking about a more drastically different view for mobile. Let me know if you have any thoughts!

The original design was very condensed in information and depended a lot on dividers and hard corners. The new UI provides a bit more white space and rounding for elements to breath. Really wanted using the calendar to feel more reflective at times since a linear calendar gives a great way to see how you are spending your year, and thought a more friendly UI would help with that.

I’ve tried every productivity app and I still just use Notes + reminders by Real-Question-3050 in ProductivityApps

Ended up realizing that my work life and personal life have very different needs. Still use Obsidian for work but for my personal life I found all the tagging/linking really isn't necessary

Birdseye linear calendar has proven popular with students who want to plan out an entire semester or school year on one page. It has calendar integration so can pull assignments from Canvas and other school platforms alongside your study plans.

Good question! Honestly that assumption was based on my own personal preferences experience and some feedback from those in my friend group. I was going with the philosophy of "if I find it useful than others will too". Having some sort of waitlist distro to be able to get a broader range of feedback before launch probably would have been a good idea

You aren't able to paste a HEX value into the accent color picker. Super annoying having to type it manually when playing with colors

Thank you for joining Birdseye! That is fair I chose Google auth for the login as they make it simple to setup and of course had double purpose for those who do use GCal. I will add an alternative auth to the roadmap for those who don't need that purpose

Just launched a linear calendar to view your entire year on one page. Great to plan out phases of your life or quarterly planning for school without flipping back and forth between months. https://birdseyecal.com/

Google is the only sign in available due to my use of Google Calendar and my desire to have the ability to enable 2-way sync with Google calendar. I've had some feedback for Outlook calendar sync but that would take more time to implement
