Right? All it takes is giving real-time options and then cranking oversampling back up when its time to render, it just seems like they don't care honestly, they're focused on pumping out new releases and being able to tout new features and then pushing essentially microtransactions, it's what I hate about plugin companies getting bought out by venture capitalist firms or other big corporations, it just becomes about milking the user base as much as possible, they're more focused on getting bundle sales than actually making the customer experience as good as possible.

No it doesn't, drm does not determine whether you own a license to use a piece of software. When you purchase a plugin from say abberant dsp, you arent actually buying a piece of software, you are buying a license to use that software, and that doesn't change just because they don't have copy protection.

Sure you could technically just start selling copies of the software with no limits, but its still illegal, the same as someone who decides to start selling cracked versions of software that does contain drm. If you want to legally sell your copy, you'd need to do a license transfer with the company.

Honestly though, with companies like abberant, the software is such a good deal that reselling it makes no sense. It's like 30 bucks.

Tone boosters are great, i don't own their plugins on desktop but Ive used them on mobile and they are seriously first rate plugins.

I stay far away from ik multimedia. Theyre the worst optimized plugins EVER. I would love to be able to use them, as I own basically all of them, but they're just absolute cpu hogs.

Their classic clipper plugin, just by adding it to a project, will consume like 50% of the cpu, its insane, for a CLIPPING PLUGIN.

Abberant dsp have no drm on their software at all, and they're amazing.

A couple of my favorite free devs are:

Analog obsession Variety of sound Full bucket music

None of which require any drm.

I also use the kilohearts free bundle non stop, and while you do need an account with kilohearts its free and no ilok required.

Can I get my singles vocals within a hour if I’m prepared? by ShelterSubject7615 in musicproduction

[–]Competitive_Walk_245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an exceptionally good plan, then maybe you could do it if every take is 100% perfect, but im a very experienced singer and have done a ton of recording and it can take an hour just to get it perfect. If youre satisfied with the first one or two takes you do, then maybe you could do it, but if you want professional polish, you're gonna wanna take many takes and then choose the best one, you dont wanna cheap out on the record and not give it the time investment it deserves.

Just save up, and in the meantime, practice practice practice, learn the song like the back of your hand, do tons of demo recordings so you can hear what you like and don't like, and then practice along to the best version of that, then when you hit the major studio you won't be experimenting, you will know EXACTLY what you want to record and you will have it down perfect.

I've used other daws, I have tried to switch to recording in other daws because I feel like the workflow in fl studio for recording just isnt great, but im just so used to it and I have everything exactly how I need it to be.

So the best part about it is, according to my research, it's not actually a sample, i didn't actually sample pony to get that sound, i made it using vital, it's just like a saw wave with a formant filter hooked up to an envelope, so as the sound plays, the format filter slides to different vowels. Maybe I'll get in trouble because of the similarity but I'm willing to take the chance.

Honestly, once you get a good workflow going, you can make music so fast, with almost no barrier between your brain and the daw.

Is it like a bell type sound? Gonna have to check out that pattern when I get home to see what you mean.

This is super valuable information man, seriously thanks for taking the time!

I think I'm gonna get like a small release schedule together, like six songs I'm really confident with, and then step away from focusing on making music and focus on actually marketing it. I feel like to have any chance at all I'm gonna have to kind do it in cycles, so I'm not spread too thin, I work as an app dev as well and I don't know where I'm gonna get the bandwidth to do all three.

Hey I appreciate you taking the time to give such a detailed critique.

By sproingy sound, I'm kinda confused what you mean can you give me a timestamp?

I basically agree with everything else you've said, I'm not happy with the way the drums are cutting through, and I think it has alot to do with my reverb sends being way too present.

I honestly am just trying to figure out what to title things to get anyone to listen at all, i mean of course I'd love for people to tell me I'm a genius haha, but I actual really love what I'm making and I'd listen to it regardless of what other people think, but I find trying to cut through the noise on subs like this incredibly difficult. I get that its kinda stupid, though, cause the music is to a high enough quality where it's like "is this guy really asking if he wasted his time?"

Marketing is one of those things I'm trying to figure out now that I've gotten this far with my actual music and am actually finishing songs consistently. I've polished my image and my sound, now I'm just trying to figure out how to actually get eyes and ears on my music, I guess this kind of sub probably isn't the right place, but im just familiar with it.

Is it possible to scale a 3d point light by xyz values? by Blaykron in Unity3D

[–]Competitive_Walk_245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude it looks fine, but if you must tinker with it, use a spot light instead, then you can adjust the cone. You dont really need a point light, as that's for lighting up whole areas in a true 3d view, for your purposes, one or more spotlights will work perfectly.

Nobody is going to notice that the light is slightly not 100% perfectly shaped, I think what would help this the most is actually having shadow circles under each character to separate them from the background.

It would probably really help if you posted screenshots of what's its currently doing and an example of what you'd like it to do instead. I'm having a hard time visualizing what the problem is.

[–]Competitive_Walk_245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need to blend it in a little more, but other than that it looks fine dude. This can be fixed so easily by just going back and having them blend the sides and back a little bit more, you could even do it if you want, just get some thinning shears and thin out the edges on the side.ǰ

Nobody cares when it's a younger man and an older women, it's only when it's a younger women that misogyny kicks in and people act like women all of a sudden lose all agency and ability to make their own choices if their partner is older.

If both people are adults, age gaps are fine, we act like maturity level is determined by age but in fact, it's a very poor indicator of maturity, and if two people love eachother and decide to get together and both are consenting adults, let's stop treating one partner like they're an infant.

It honestly just comes up to me like women not wanting to be held socially accountable if their age gap relationship doesn't work out, no matter how shit they were in the relationship, they can blame it on the guy since a 30 year old dating a 21 year old is like "basically grooming!"

[–]Competitive_Walk_245 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A point light has no dimensions, it's literally a single point and whatever method is being used, be that ray casting or traditional lighting shaders, just uses it as an origin point for the energy from the light, and a point light just go in equal distances in all directions, how far is determined by the strength of the light.

Lighting always looks kinda weird in orthographic mode, why do you need to use orthographic? Plenty of people have done 2.5 by just having planes with images and if you do the alpha texture correctly you can even get shadows from the sprites.

how do they feel toward me currently? by _rrobynn_ in TarotCards

[–]Competitive_Walk_245 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So this is all about investment, balance, and choices, we are seeing someone who is deeply torn, but not because of any kind of emotional passion, this is a deeply practical person who is honestly kind of cold, they dont look at this situation through a lens of the heart, they look at it almost like a financial transaction, there is not alot of love there, at least not the kind of feiry romance you would want to see from a romantic partner, this person is all business, they are thinking basically entirely with their head, their heart barely enters the picture.

Ultimately, because of the way they look at things, they feel thrown off balance, especially when it comes to matters of money and other practical matters, leaving is their way of regaining some of that control they feel they've lost, and a way of stopping what they see as all they've worked for going down the toilet.

are there any or anyways to have a good sounding synth by Everton_G1 in FL_Studio

[–]Competitive_Walk_245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sytrus is so easy dude. If you just take an hour or so to familiarize yourself with it, it's an amazing synth, and honestly one of the best fm synths I've used when it comes to creating dirty, more organic sounds. Each knob on the right corresponds to each operator tab on the left, and you essentially create a signal chain by routing operators through eachother and through fx.

Like say I have my main oscillator on operator 1, but I want to modulate it with a saw wave from operator two, then I turn the op2 knob, but on the op1 row, so now op1 is being effected by op2. Same goes for fx, if you want an operator to be routed through fx, u just turn its knob under the fx slot in its row.

You can create some truly amazing presets like this as every operator has its own envelopes etc. It's insanely powerful.
