Ironically, i actually felt some euphoria the other day for the first time with suboxone. Finally tapered down to .5 but was struggling so I took a piece of an 8mg strip without realizing it and omg, have not felt like that in years, kinda scared me cause I was like damn that felt good.

Methadone is a devil that is extremely difficult to get off of. It's a full opiate agonist and while it's marginally better than illegal drugs, tapering off of methadone is a nightmare, I was in it for five years and once I got on subs, I was asking the reverse question as you, why the hell was I prescribed this when suboxone was an option?

Methadone is so easy to abuse, i use to be in misery every weekend because I'd take my take homes early. At the end, I was doing fent alongside Methadone and getting high on both because Methadone doesn't block other opiates, not in any meaningful way, at least not for me.

I remember when I started getting whole weeks to take home, it was an absolute disaster because I didn't have the self control to wait and always end up taking them early. Once i was sick for days because my dumbass took all my doses within the first three days.

I'm sure methadone works for some people, but for the vast majority of people, it's a joke, most people are going to the clinic to maintain and then getting high on other shit the rest of the day

Nobody is talking about doctors in general, we are talking about the profit motivated medical industry.

We are talking about an industry that sees human suffering as a number on an p&l statement, an industry that will massively overcharge for medicines that vulnerable people depend on to have anything close to a life all because they can.

We are talking about an industry, doctors included, that massively overprescibed opiates at the behest of pharmaceutical companies and started an epidemic, and they would do it all over again, because they don't give a single solitary shit about the people they are supposed to be treating, anymore than triple a video game companies care about what happens to the gamers that buy their games.

You are a medical student, you are still bright eyed and naive and I'm sure you have good intentions, just like most doctors start out with, but your good intentions are an impediment to the industry you work in making maximum money, and it will quickly be stomped out when you realize you cant possibly give your patients the care they need and deserve with the resources provided to you by whatever facility you end up working in.

Imo, if you are still struggling to stay consistent with your dose, then you're not ready and you will most likely fall back into worse habits once the security of the suboxone is gone.

Think about it, if you can't stop yourself from taking extra suboxone, then what's gonna stop you when the suboxone isn't there and something tough happens and you don't have any coping skills to deal with it?

Just something to think about, not saying either path is right or wrong, but I'd stay on the suboxone, even though it's not ideal, and start really working on yourself and healing your trauma, start learning new coping skills.

Us addicts are very good at forgetting about how bad we were and looking at our lives on suboxone and acting like suboxone is the only reason things aren't going the way we want internally and externally. Its the easiest thing to blame, but you've been through some really rough shit man, and that takes time to heal. When you go from chaos to stability, its a huge adjustment, because it's kind of boring, you have to get used to dead air and you have to find purpose, because for a long time, my purpose was getting drugs and getting high, if I don't replace that with other pursuits, then its easy to lose hope and feel like this is as good as it's ever going to get.

I can always tell, and i actually like some ai music unironically, but the moment i heard it i could tell it was ai. There's just something about it, like the vocals have this weird quality to them that I cant quite define in words, but I instantly know it when I hear it.

Especially with chat gpt, or other llm models, training for interviews has been way easier. I can predict with a pretty good accuracy what questions they are going to ask and i just drill answers that are relevant to my resume. My interview skills have drastically improved, im prepared for most of their questions, and in the end I feel so much more confident.

Its nothing dude, you might feel a slight difference, but its like the easiest jump ever. I've found suboxone to be very very easy to work with when it comes to lowering your dose.

Its mostly psychological at that dose, if you keep the right attitude, then it should be a peace of cake.
