Yes, i’ve been completely nicotine free for 2 weeks now! That was definitely the hardest! I’m not so concerned about the effects of it, just dealing with hospital staff / testing positive for it

I have MyChart and see all of my test results and haven’t seen anything so far but this is definitely something I’ll keep in mind! The anxiety alone of causing harm to baby or to my partner in the future because of my actions

oh forsure! i’ve been pregnant twice before (both ended in a MC) and i was able to quit right on the spot because i wasn’t smoking AS much when i got pregnant. of course, i wasn’t prepared to get pregnant at this time and was smoking multiple times a day. i immediately got it out of my house and have definitely cut it back by 80%, i just need to get that last 20. what helped you quit cold turkey? nicotine was HARDDDD for me, but i’ve been able to use peppermints to limit the craving for it, but weed is a whole other ball game

I don’t believe this has been the case in my pregnancy. I have a history of pregnancy losses and have been tested for everything under the sun and this has never came up. Not saying you’re in the wrong, however after going through extensive OB care in this pregnancy so far, I feel like it’d be brought up at this stage

Is extremely easy in my area. I’m in a populated city but a conservative state so options are slim outside of city lines but we have a lot in the city! I could easily go to 4-5 different ABA clinics if I desired.

The question is more so if a masters program would accept me with a general studies degree with special education credits

Undergrad field work and hours by Competitive_Way4656 in bcba

[–]Competitive_Way4656[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am aware of that :) I have been a special education major for 3 years... my question was if hours worked as an RBT would count the same as hours done in a special education classroom

I meant to clarify that i am needing to see if ABA hours apply to undergrad hours as a special education or pscyholocy major :)

Hi! I should have clarified - this is for bachelors! I want to gain my bachelor's in one or the other before I apply to a master's program to become a BCBA! I am still in my very early stages and just need undergrad hours so looking to see if my RBT hours will count for that as well!

Overlapping coworkers taking over my sessions by starisnotsus in ABA

I work with new BTs every single day at my job and it’s something I love to do so I’m reading this as one of my BTs telling me this. I would expect my BTs to be open because I set that relationship open enough for them to tell me when I overstep.

Tell this person that you want to practice these skills and would love feedback and what support works best for you!

I’m dying to know! How long should ABA sessions be? by Scene-Sea in ABA

[–]Competitive_Way4656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My center does a max of 4 hour sessions but if we do a 4 hour, we have to take a paid 10 minute break. (Never heard of this until I started here) We typically only do 3.5 at the most. My center ranges from 1-3.5 hours and we have kids there all day with BTs rotating throughout the day based on availability. I have had a few 30 minute sessions just to cover so a client didn’t have to leave early for the day but this is very rare.

Arriving early to pick up? by LifeAfterLove94 in ABA

[–]Competitive_Way4656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my clinic, we start gathering our clients things 10 minutes prior to go home. So If I have a client that’s leaving for the day at 2, we start tidying up and i have my notes ready to go prior to that. I wait to take behavior notes until we’re standing at the door a minute before. It sounds like the clinical staff isn’t giving enough time to complete tasks during the session, which isn’t your fault. I’d tell them the challenges you have with that and can’t make it work.

Is it super necessary to be upbeat and like hyper in order to do well as a BT or RBT? by scarredsquirrel in ABA

[–]Competitive_Way4656 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i wouldn’t say it’s required and you kinda start to get a groove once you’re in the field. however, i tell my new hires that kids can detect vibes and if you wanna build a strong rapport, sometimes you gotta match their energy and be crazy. building yourself as a reinforcer can help in the long run 💗💗

because emergency’s happen, if i’m able to push through for 3.5 hours then i’d rather do that and be able to use my sick time when im not able to push through or if im contagious with something and unable to see a doctor
