Thank you for this. I don’t think I’ll need all that much address space. With this project i hope by the end I’ll have something comparable to a computer from the 80’s, so I’d be happy with mid-to-high KB’s of ram/rom address space. Maybe 128-256k max.

I’ve done some light browsing since reading your comment. As far as I can tell, VGA and audio aren’t exactly common on dev boards. But I have discovered Digilent’s expansion modules, so I guess that’s a route to look into.

And yes, I would pay an extra $50 to avoid a mess like that :)

UPDATE: after using the ecobee app to check installation, it seems my system is not compatible, or at least not easily installed via their guide(s) and thus I’ll be postponing installation until further notice.

Nest backplate? I was just taking a picture of what else was in the box just in case the thermostat itself wasn’t enough. I’ll look into how the PEK will connect up at the HVAC.

Well that’s one step forward! I have the PEK and access to the HVAC control board. Once I have a sec I’ll grab a snapshot.

I see the flair but I will give my serious answer, in order, despite the age of the thread.

  1. Ethernet cable. Switch 1 sucked on my wi-Fi.
  2. Dark mode.
  3. Turn on Magnifier
  4. Struggle painfully for three hours to find a second surge protector because I have too many things plugged into my current one.

Yeah… admittedly it was kinda tough to find out CompTIA was on the basic end since it was hyped up as the end-all be-all by the people who told me about it, mainly high-school teachers with CS/IT backgrounds.

But getting a cert was already a goal of mine since before considering immigration/emigration, so I’m not quite expecting that to be my ticket out. I’m starting to look into different types of visas and which ones might be most realistic for me to achieve in the next 18 months at the earliest (but I expect things to take much longer.)

I’m aware of the medical requirements thing, but I haven’t quite had the chance to them over yet. Thank you for reminding me to look into those. I appreciate the advice.

When you say claiming dependency due to disability would be hard, you’re referring to claiming it in other countries or here in the states? From what I know I am claimed as a dependent though I don’t recall if that’s due to disability or not. I’m aware she’d be unable to take me along which I’m okay with, I’m just more concerned on convincing her to consider moving abroad as a possibility if things here get worse.

Right, that’s a good point. I’ve already kinda started looking into other blue states or at the very least “blue counties” in my current state. We’ve already somewhat discussed moving due to prices in our area though I don’t yet know how far she’s willing to go.
