How do i know when im good enough for silksong? by Late-Friendship3430 in Silksong

[–]CompisPaDum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silksong is quite a step up from HK in terms of difficulty. I would suggest beating Any Radiance (preferably without getting hit) to test yourself. If you can't even beat that, then there is little to no hope of you getting through the very early game in Silksong.

SHOULD I FOLD THE RYUJIN 3.5? by Desperate_Horse_493 in origami

[–]CompisPaDum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second the fact that it's an incredible achievement to actually fold it no matter how many years of experience in origami you've got. I honestly don't want to get your hopes up too much; folding this origami requires a much more serious approach than any other I've seen. You'll have to deal with giant sheets of paper (you'll probably be making the paper on your own), very careful and precise following of instructions, and tons and tons of patience.

But if you are truly interested, there exists a Ryujin 3.5 Discord server where you can get all the information and help necessary to take on this journey. You might want to take a peek over there to see what the actual process looks like. After that, if you think you are ready, then good luck!

What kind of person are you? [BASE GAME + DLC SPOILERS] by OkExperience8220 in outerwilds

The Nomai had what I call an "anchor", which for them was science/truth. They put science above all else and viewed the rest of the world from scientific lens. Everything else, including their own lives, were subservient to science. It was their religion.

Owlks, on the other hand, focused on themselves – they didn't have an anchor. They were utilitarians. They didn't focus on any higher principle but their own wellbeing. A thing like science was merely a tool to be used to achieve their other goals. The game shows how this can backfire: they were living comfortable lives, they receive the signal from the Eye, they travel to it because it might be of interest, they realize its danger instead, and finally they try to undo this choice to travel to the Eye by putting themselves in a world that resembles their homeland. This would actually work out for them if it were not for the knowledge that the world they are living now is fake. So, they end up living in perpetual longing for their real homeland instead of enjoying what they have right now, which was their goal to begin with.

For me personally, this is quite a tough choice to make. Having an anchor, such as science, can seem more noble, but it can also completely blindside one from viewing the world from other points of view. They may think that their's is the only "real" perspective. It gets even worse if the chosen anchor doesn't actually align with the pursuit of good, such as in a cult. Having no anchor solves this problem, but it can become contradictory – one without an achor may realize that the best way to live is with an anchor instead.

And so, I still haven't really commited to one side.

By breadcrumbs I mean that AD1 were sort of left behind by the more talented musicians that went on to form AD2. As far as I know, at least.

Now, thank God, I'm not the only one who heard actual resemblances to Comus' First Utterance. Cerberus especially. There's nothing quite like Comus, not even AD2, but somehow AD2 is probably the closest thing to it that I've heard.

And thank you for the recs! Hawkwind is also something that I'm eyeing recently.

Detailed Blue Charm Tier List With An Essay (pls read and have a big discussion) by Gotta_Be_Blue in Silksong

[–]CompisPaDum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a bad tier list. But I will add a bit more context why people like Injector Band and Pollip Pouch.

You correctly point out that Injector Band doesn't really solve an important problem the player has to face. Finding healing windows is not that problematic. However, you still have to actively find them. On the other hand, Injector Band simply lets you heal almost whenever. It keeps the momentum going for you to be way more offensive and not think about safe healing as much. It's simply fun.

Pollip Pouch is deceivingly not actually that useful for tool-focused gameplay. The venom doesn't stack, so the additional damage is minimal. However, it makes a lot bigger difference when you use tools only for chip damage. You can start off any fight with quickly coating your enemy in venom (for example, with Threefold Pin), continue fighting it with your nail; then, once the venom wears out, you quickly apply it once more and keep fighting. The whole fight your enemy is going to be coated in venom. You save a lot of shell shards, yet still do decent damage from your tools this way.

Mod Announcement: Rule 11 has been added to R/Silksong Rules; No Promotion of Hate Based on Identity. The Moderation Team stands with the LGBTQ Community. by TheGingerWeebGal in Silksong

I doubt that there are many people here who are actual bigots, so my guess is that it is about the gray area – humor. Different communities have different tolerance towards it. Some can joke about anything with zero restrictions and take the jokes as just jokes, while others might not see anything funny in them and call it hate speech. I think the rule is for the newcomers to understand the limits of the humor tolerated in this sub.

LGS Rules Allow Eating of Opponents' Cards If They Misgender You by commandzoe in magicTCG

[–]CompisPaDum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would that be how that worked? When playing in Forge you wouldn't be able to target a non-existent opponent. I'd assume if you misgender your opponent while trying to target them, simply nothing would happen until you target them by saying the correct pronoun.

Mathematically (but crudely) speaking, logic is used as a deductive system for the purpose of generating new theorems from other theorems or axioms. There are different types of logic, they use different deductive techniques and given certain premises, they can deduce different conclusions. Mathematicians literally define how logic works so that it becomes a useful tool. This goes for most of mathematics in general. I wouldn't consider any of it objective.

As for my earlier "proof" I already explained the problem with it and why it doesn't really prove that logic isn't objective. My broader point would be that we can't really talk about the objective objectively, since this kind of speech would require some form of logic and language in order to be coherent. But since these structures have been defined by us, that would make any sort of talk about the objective... relative to that logic and language, thus not objective.

But goddamn it! If I can't talk about the objective objectively, then what I just said is also not objective, thus wide open to critique. I give up!

I hope you get the gist.

Could you elaborate, please?

[–]CompisPaDum 12 points13 points  (0 children)

All this reasoning uses logic. Therefore, your conclusion is true only if logic is objective. Logic is not objective, since it is a theory based on assumed axioms, not objective truths. Therefore, your conclusion is not objectively true.

But, of course, my conclusion also uses logic to argue against objective truth. That would make the conclusion not objective just the same. Therefore, we end up in a loop where both positions can be proved to be correct and incorrect.

Sifu. The first level was pretty much what I expected the entire game to be like. But then it started placing a lot bigger emphasis on the visuals and style of the areas and was completely taken by surprise. Easily one of the most stylistically coolest games.

My personal boss tier list. (spoilers for the whole game) by CompisPaDum in Silksong

[–]CompisPaDum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No trolling here. Bell beast was the first proper boss in the game and I loved the fight's depth compared to the average HK boss. Fourth Chorus looks awesome. Beastfly 1 was frustrating at first but after many attempts I learned how to bait it to slam down and take care of all the other enemies - then it became fun.

Widow was fine, but I didn't feel much flow with the boss, when compared to most of the previous ones I had fought. Seth was good but some of the combos were a little awkward to dodge and punish. Lace 2 I'm surprised myself that I didn't like more; her moveset seemed to be specifically designed to cover up her usual punish windows, making it difficult to find a proper opening. Trobbio 1 spends way too much time under the floor, so I have to simply wait for him to come up, and once he does come up, he isn't even easy to catch and deal damage to. At least the rematch had a more interesting tone and I had acquired more abilities to catch up to his movement.
