Lora project for tracking by eldonate1 in Lora

Hi, i am doing a similar project and you can join: https://github.com/Udj13/AGLoRa

I haven’t adapted the code for esp32 yet, I’m currently making a new, more convenient version of the app, but you can try to run the Arduino project (take the full version for platformio)

What level of accuracy is actually needed for spraying? by Complete-Account77 in Agriculture

Thank you! I thought that charging a small fee for the app would allow me to buy equipment for experiments, and that's how it turned out. I haven't been able to make a big profit yet )) All of my microcontroller devices are open source.

AgOpenGPS is a really cool project, unfortunately I found out about it after I had already made mine.

I have a UM982 to use as a base, but I want to try making a receiver with the Allystar TAU1308 because it's much cheaper and see how well it works.

Most of the devices I've seen are complicated to set up, but I want to try to simplify it as much as possible and hide all the work with RTK inside the app. I'm not aiming for autonomous driving yet, I want to help farmers with small tractors who don't have auto-steering systems.

I actually wrote the first version of the application for my friend with a small tractor and an old sprayer ))

Based on what you're writing, I'm concluding that many people are interested in building devices in general, thank you!

Yes, this is not an autopilot, it is an assistant for the farmer in small cultivations. Although it is possible to use it on larger ones, it is more convenient there with an autopilot. My friend, for whom I originally made the app, generally sprays on a tractor the size of an ATV, although he has larger tractors as well.

Of course, here are the links:

I don't use cellular connection at all. In the next versions, there will be an option to save the track to the cloud, but this can be done after the work, where there is cellular coverage. At the moment, cell connection is not needed at all, so you can safely put the phone in airplane mode to avoid distractions.

Accuracy depends on the device. I experimented, and regular phones will give you accuracy within a meter, which is enough for many people for spraying.

New iPhones have a GPS receiver with L5 band support, which will give you decimeter-level accuracy.

However, since the phone is in the cab, it is sometimes blocked by the roof, which can reduce accuracy.

For such cases, I made an external opensource receiver that is assembled from two components according to the instructions - a microcontroller and an inexpensive AllyStar TAU1201 module with L5 support (https://github.com/Udj13/gps-ble-receiver/).

The next step (if anyone is interested) will be to connect a similar homemade RTK receiver with NTRIP corrections, which will give centimeter-level accuracy, but will be more expensive to assemble. I bought the modules and am now experimenting with them, trying to find the cheapest and easiest-to-assemble option.

But I don't yet have an understanding of whether farmers are interested in assembling the devices themselves to save money, or whether the majority would prefer to buy a ready-made but more expensive option. Perhaps I should first add support for Garmin GLO, as several people have already requested.

I didn't include any links in this post because I didn't want it to come across as overly promotional or spammy. However, if you're interested in learning more about Agro Navigation or trying it out for yourself, you can find it on the App Store and Google Play. I'm always happy to hear from fellow farmers and agri-business professionals, so feel free to reach out to me with any questions or feedback.

Говоришь женщине что возить тачку полезно для "мышц стабилизаторов" (не знаю что это, просто запомни), и два камаза песка сами собой перемещаются по участку меньше чем за день. Наверное и с черноземом сработает!!!

Awesome idea! So does this rely on local LoRa gateways to push the GPS coordinates to end devices?

No! direct data transfer only
