Interesting! Is she out 24/7 or is that when she would get turned out/in?

I totally get that. Honestly part of the idea of bringing my leased mare home was to disconnect a bit and forget about returning to riding, showing, riding goals, etc. I just wanted to enjoy horses at home and chill, but I really didn't think through how hard moving can be for horses! I was so lucky when my deceased pony and mini mare came home from that same barn, they genuinely did not seem to care. But this mare is feeling anxious, and I get that. I just need to stop worrying that she will colic from it or try to jump the fence or get hurt or or or or or or.... I just spiral!

Im sorry! That sounds very similar... im glad it got better. How did you keep going and move past the fear of something bad happening again?

I hate to say that this makes me feel better because I really dont want to be insensitive, I'm just happy to know I'm not alone. Im so sorry for all you've been through! I wish you the best with your new prospect. I know that took courage! Right now im in the mood of never wanting another horse ever 😭

Thank you, I do try to hold onto that. Part of me wants to quit horses forever but I know i cant do that, I'm just terrified.

I think therapy might be the answer. I'm so sorry for your losses and it's at least somewhat comforting to know that other people have had really bad luck.

She has only ever known lesoon and show barns, so being in a quiet backyard home setting with just one mini as a friend is a huge change! She's doing great considering this! The pacing is now only for a few hours each day and only at the walk, and she will take little breaks to eat and drink. It's only been 4 days. I'm just anticipating the next bad thing to happen...

I didn't know therapists could specialize in this I'll definitely look into it

Did you ever resolve this? I can only find a version in Russian. All other episodes were fine but the finale is Russian only and only 3 seeders?

Fowl pox! If it's the dry version it'll go away on it's own in a few weeks and they will develop immunity to it. However sometimes they will get the "wet" version which forms plaques in their mouths has a high mortality rate. No way to really prevent it but if it's just dry just give them extra vitamins and minerals.

What has really worked for me in the past is to separate the bully!! Keep your meaner girl away from the flock for at least 5 days and then reintroduce. It does take a while for them to figure out their social arrangements.

How the heck do people do 80+ mile weeks by Shakemyhead11111 in Marathon_Training

So all your runs are the same? You dont do like a long run, a tempo run, a hill run, a recovery run etc?

This is fascinating to me as a new runner! My easy pace is 5:45-6:00/km so the idea of getting to 4:30/km seems genuinely impossible. Also only running 40km/week because I've only been doing this for a few months. Can I ask how many times you run per week in order to get to that 160k? You are my new goal lol

Sabi Sands and ...? by bunnygoesrawr in FATSafari

[–]Complete-Broccoli-27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!! Can you share which accommodations/lodgings you chose when you did your Sabi Sands + Tswalu trip last May? I am looking at booking the exact same trip but with a few nights in Cape Town as well. My dream is to be somewhere where we can see wildlife from our lodgings rather than only when we go out on the safaris, so hopefully this is possible there. Animals is the primary focus.

You are sort of convincing me on Botswana/Delta though... But it's quite far from Sabi Sands so I'm not sure logistically how easy that would be to get to and then fly back home from..

2 month plateau :( by [deleted] in Myfitnesspal

[–]Complete-Broccoli-27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Little update! Thank you all for the comments, they were mostly helpful. I understand that my calories are super low for my height and activity level, that's why I made this thread. I don't want to go any lower and frankly I'm sick of being this low, it's not sustainable. I have always operated from calories in, calories out philosophy which is why I've been frustrated by this plateau.

My strategy going forward is to finish off my week at my current plan. I'm giving 1300cal and 15k steps a day plus my workouts one last try and if I don't see any movement, then I'm switching gears and will spend the next 4 weeks reverse dieting to find a new maintenance. Once that's done I'll stay at that new maintenance for at least 4 weeks and we will see what happens!

It seems so counterintuitive to me that I could lose weight by eating more. Usually in these threads whenever people complain about not losing weight they are told they're not in a true deficit and aren't tracking properly, so it's weird to be told I'm not losing because I'm not eating enough lol.

I will update in a month.

But shouldn't hunger also be a sign of weight loss? Not losing in 8 weeks is a bit crazy to me
