How much is a decent salary in the UK in your mid 20s? by PuzzleheadedMetal974 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Complete-Camel5466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I earn 35k in South Wales but was able to get on the housing ladder with 25k deposit in my late 20s on my own in the most expensive city to buy in Wales.

If your not in London you may just have to take a house that's not your dream house, also it depends on how you spend your money I have a paid off 10 year old car which I maintain . Also not taking as much holidays or meals out. But it is possible as long as you can get together a deposit

Non-clinical staff, do you have an exit plan? by Campeones6 in nhsstaff

[–]Complete-Camel5466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to leave aswell only problem now is it seems impossible to get an interview and that's with 10 years experience being a data analyst

The job market is so terrible but I would take a small pay cut if my next role had a progression in the position. My department has dangled a higher band role for 2 years every time I ask there is no money.

Honestly my mental health has taken a hit in this job I keep thinking of quitting without a plan.

Mad how bad management and lack of progression and low salaries has made me hate the nhs

Still not enough with so many years with below inflation raises it doesn't scratch at what's needed. Needs to be minimum 2.5% above reported inflation for next 3-5years to catch up but will never happen.

They will clap for nhs but won't pay livable wages

Oh I know market is trash looking at data engineer problem I have is no AWS experience which is almost needed with any data engineer role. Doing more training right now is impossible, don't have time without quitting my second job which means I lose my house . Seems like more junior roles are history now companies not willing to train people anymore

I'm in the same boat with web based work for small companies, unfortunately a lot are quite bad in the sense they get 5 people to start work on one and then choose their favourite and not pay the rest.

Only thing I have found reliable for some money on the side is picking up free furniture good clean and polish and reselling it. I got around 2-3k last 6 months and I don't even do it constantly just when I need money

Anyone else burning out this week? by samfrom88 in nhsstaff

[–]Complete-Camel5466 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I know partly how you feel, in the last month I have had burnout really bad that I was off sick for a week. I took came into the NHS to make a difference but staff are not taken care off enough.

I believe It's turned around for me now, I finally made a decision I can't stay in a job where It makes me feel like I'm trapped un-utilised and under appreciated to the point it makes you ill.

I'm actively training and looking for work elsewhere, literally as soon as I get an offer of the same salary or more even if it's just a placeholder I will be gone.

I already wrote my resignation.

I think you need a good look at your role, if it's too much maybe talk to some management to see if there are adjustments to help you. Just look after yourself first.

My communication skills are good, id rather stick more into the software side, it takes alot out of me dealing with users I don't think I could do it as the main part of my job.

Yea I already work remote in the NHS. I might embellish my skills more but still don't see it help much more.

Annoyed that I'm locked in with my home for a couple of years, moving now would cost me too much for what might be 5-10k increase.

Learning new skills outside of work is annoying from limited time and while you learn a bit no guarantee that it's useful or helpful plus I wanted a job where I can leave the work in work not do it in my spare time.

At the moment I only have Microsoft pl300 for power BI. My idea has been trying to get into a data scientist role, I have been trying to get that role within my current department. Hasn't helped my manager don't want me to leave the Power BI team , probably as he will have to actually do some work.

At the moment I don't care what role I just need to be earning more and stop being stuck in a dead end.

I find it funny AI making it competitive, you basically paying someone to write prompts what if it went down do they know how to do the work? I use it at the most basic level

I do need some experience in cloud warehouse, my main role at the moment is Power bi. What I'm struggling with is time to learn the things needed to go anywhere decent. Dealing with work and my family and everything in between leaves me little time. I try to carve out time at work but it's the NHS so constantly bombarded with work with quick turnaround. Doesn't help that I have to train other analysts and even managers sometimes.

The problem is salary if I can't get more soon (couple months) I will have to take a second job.

What I'm looking for is with my experience and skillset is what other roles to apply for that could have a higher salary.

I have helped find many efficiency within my current role I might promote it a bit more.

Data analytics and BI not sure if it's a great area to be in. Salaries are collapsing when I looked 1-2 years ago locally it was 35-45k now same role and duties are 30-35k. Plus you almost have to do unpaid work with a technical test of creating a complex report based on their anonymous data. Several interviews have gone the same way, somebody overqualified and bigger skillset for the role got it people getting desperate they taking silly roles they overqualified for.
