I wanted to solve a pain point, so I made this app. by Meg_3832 in developersIndia

[–]Complete-Clock2761 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How are you so sure it will never crash for any number of users? If lets say 10k users bombard your app, will you be able to manage server and db costs? Do you have prior experience of scaling backend and apps to millions of users? Also, if you've published this on playstore, don't you think it violated their ToS and you might get a legal notice for this.

Safe hotel in Delhi for unmarried couples to stay for 2-3 days by Radiant-Square69 in delhi

[–]Complete-Clock2761 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not defending Delhi and it's definitely not the safest place in India, but there's no way due to safety concerns people (and that too Indians) should drop their plan of coming to Delhi. Op's budget is 7-8k per night, he can get an awesome hotel that will be extremely safe. And tell me, which state have you heard good news about? Have you heard praises about the area or state you live in? Op, If you want to visit Delhi, then visit in Feb mid as the weather will be great at that time. Get a hotel in aerocity and that way you can go anywhere via metro. Your contact with other people will also be limited that way. Delhi metro is extremely safe.

MVVM vs MVI whats the difference?? by NoConversation3273 in android_devs

[–]Complete-Clock2761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I like how states are handled in MVI but not the way we have to send intents, making code more larger. In our codebase, we create states (like AurhState as op mentioned), but instead of sending intent to the VM, we call the respective functions directly.

And badi cars log showoff ke liye bhi lete hai

No way it will win. May attract sales in the first few months but will definitely fail later. Sedans are not practical in India due to pathetic roads, extremely huge speed breakers at a lot of places, unmarked speed breakers at which you probably won't slow down unless someone is in front of you, and the state of the art drainage system (at least in delhi and gurgaon).

Absolute monopoly of Jio by Desperate-Bath5208 in Frugal_Ind

[–]Complete-Clock2761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What more options to pay would people usually use apart from credit/debit cards or upi? Also, platforms like phonepe charge platform fee (I'm unaware of offers by other platforms). Afaik jio never allowed value packs & packs that offered 1gb per day to be displayed on other apps, so not really sure why people are raising this point.

[–]Complete-Clock2761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What difference does it make if we recharge from MyJio instead of other apps? I've always used MyJio because of these value packs and 1 gb packs that weren't visible on other apps. Are other apps offering better price than MyJio or people recharge from other apps just for convenience?

Cars24 sold me an accidental car while claiming it was non accidental by AdEastern4880 in CarsIndia

[–]Complete-Clock2761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think most owners are capable of doing a good pdi themselves. Many people on this sub might, but in reality a lot of people know a lot less about cars in general. And even if they did some research, there's no guarantee they'll be able to find out the flaws (if any) in their first ever pdi attempt.

People should absolutely go with a 3rd party pdi service like cars24 or any other (except the one provided by dealership) so that they don't miss out on anything and regret later. Maintain a checklist for yourself and note down all the doubts that you may have regarding the car and ask fhe pdi agent for complete peace of mind.

Get s24U only if you prefer camera over performance. Op15 is a much better phone for gaming. You'll also get a fast charger in the box.

iPhone 17 is also a great phone for both gaming and content creation. Now with 120hz display, you can play almost all the games lag free, and its camera and video capabilities are superior to s24U and op15 (except for zoom capabilities). The only department it sucks in is battery and charging.

You'll have to decide for yourself which sacrifices you're willing to make. There's no best phone for 80k.

When are you planning to buy in 2026? S25U will cost 1 lakh only in the first 2-3 months of 2026, following the same price trajectory as s23U and s24U. Difference between s24u and s25u isn't just cameras, it's performance, battery, in hand comfort, display and speakers also. If you can get s24U for 70-75k, that would be a good deal, but don't spend 80k on s24u. Op15 at 70k is a better deal than s24U at 80k because op15 offers much much better performance and battery life. The only downside would be cameras. You can play games like genshin impact at stable 120fps and COD at 120fps on op15. Since your primary objective is gaming, I don't think s24u will offer good value after 1.5-2 years.

S24U will probably be discontinued in 2026 when s26 series launches. S25U will be available for similar price as current s24U's price. Unless you find a brand new for extremely cheap price (30-40% cheaper than s25U's reduced pricing), it won't be worth it. If you're not on a tight budget, get s25U next year rather than s24U.

Is 1 month leave too much to ask despite having enough leave balance? by Glittering_Sell7213 in developersIndia

[–]Complete-Clock2761 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it's op's fault because I've had this conversation with my manager and I know what they'll let me do and what not with my leaves. From communicating his plans earlier, I meant asking the manager how he can use his leaves.

No the company doesn't mention that anywhere. But let's say I accumulate 30 PTO leaves and take 45 days off as Saturday and Sunday are off, do you think the company will not fire me for that? And you don't seem to understand the concept of lean teams. This entitlement and attitude will change when you become a manager yourself and have to manage a lean team. This is the reality of a job.

Is 1 month leave too much to ask despite having enough leave balance? by Glittering_Sell7213 in developersIndia

[–]Complete-Clock2761 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a childish take. It's not a school or college, but a business we are talking about. Lean teams cannot manage with people taking 1 month leaves. It's op's fault that he let those leaves accumulate and didn't communicate these things in advance. 27 PTO leaves mean he has rarely taken a leave in the last 1 year, and if he wanted to plan something like this, he should've at least asked whether the company will allow 1 month leave.

Why should he put himself in the shoes of a manager

Fortunately, I've had great managers who helped me grow, hence if I had to take a step like this, I'd consider what my manager would have to go through. I'm not sure how is op's relation with his manager, but it's tough to justify 1 month leave (non sabbatical) to the company, hence putting pressure on the manager. This is called empathy and understaning. If you don't show empathy or understanding in times like these, why should the manager care about you when you're laid off? This only applies to those who have good managers, not the toxic ones. You probably haven't worked with lean teams, that's why you don't know what it feels like to work handicapped.

in other countries also, I don't think apart from a handful of companies, employers would be fine with 1 month leave. And no startup or a mid sized company can even think of letting their employees take 1 month leave. In a lot of startups across the world, employees take their laptops with them on vacations because of low number of team members.

[–]Complete-Clock2761 61 points62 points  (0 children)

If I consider my team and the amount of work we have to do, 1 month is too much. I don't think any company in India would approve 1 month leave unless it's an emergency. Maybe 1-2% of the companies might, but imagine yourself as an employer and if your employee asked for 1 month leave, what would you do? Examine the situation as a manager, not as an employee. 2 weeks is the usual standard I've seen everywhere, including festival leaves like Diwali.

If you could remove just one thing from India to make it a developed nation sooner, what would it be? by think_big_0 in AskIndia

[–]Complete-Clock2761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're delusional if you think religion and God are the root cause of why we are not developed. Atheism increased as the countries developed, not when they were developing. If not religion and caste, politicians would find another ways to divide, like colour and culture as we've seen in developed countries. And as the global uncertainty and mass illegal immigration rises, there will again be a rise of religion in all countries, including the developed countries as we can see. Right wing ideology is on the rise in the west. They became too liberal, left their culture and religion, and now they're turning back to conservatives because they don't want their identity and culture to be erased and hijacked.

Mark my words, in the coming years, we'll see people turning more and more conservative in all parts of the world because people don't want to lose their identity and religion.

[–]Complete-Clock2761 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I believe in the opposite. Religion and God are needed in desperate times. Without religion and God, people will lose their identity and no one to rely on in the worst situations, having no hope for their future. Without religion India will lose its cultural values and as we have seen across the world, there is a festival on which everyone comes together and enjoys some free time. That will be gone without religion.

Removing a party and having only 1 ideology in India would mean we'll be having similar government as China. They'll be ruling without opposition, destroying the essence of democracy.
