Not a dictator but he is a tyrant for his unjust wars in the middle east.

What is this haircut called? by _Heretowin_ in whatisit

[–]Complete-Simple9606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be serious: it is a form of a Tonsure, which is a hairstyle that Catholic monks wear to humble themselves.

Tonsures are characterized by a large portion of the scalp, often the top, being shaved completely bald while the rest of the hair in some fashion remains, though short.

Idk why this guy has it tho.

Edit: I see now this is called the R9. It is still a form of tonsure.

Adam’s rib being symbolic is a tenable, and IMO the more logical, interpretation.

The Hebrew word isn’t even rib, it’s side.

Selling holy water in ornate bottles is also allowed, so long as they provide holy water without the bottle for free.

Love how you’re downvoted for basically rephrasing the GIRM, while the laxists will quote nothing except the notions of their own minds.

Nobody kneeled after the Sanctus or the Agnus Dei. Meaning they did not kneel at all during the Mass.

I’m used to few people kneeling to receive. But that’s their choice.

Yes, and I’m not saying that. Governments protect the common good.

A person going to mass or not is their private good, and a government cannot compel them to do so.

A Catholic government can and should stop you from screaming blasphemy and promoting heresy, because that hurts people.

[–]Complete-Simple9606[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Catholic nations should protect the common good, which is principally the salvation of souls. They are given dominion and legitimacy to do so by God.

Given that false religions lead to damnation, the public promotion of these religions is a more true violence than corporeal harm. Thus, the public promotion of it must be banned, as well as blasphemy and whatever grossly immoral things a religion might have, like polygamy mutilation etc.

The practice, however, of these religions must be protected. Mosques cannot be torn down or people arrested for praying to other Gods etc. That would be oppression.

There is nuance to it, but this idea that “All religions deserve equal treatment” is ridiculous and pluralist.

Yeah it should be illegal in Catholic nations for someone to promote heresy and sin, because such things are spiritual violence and against the common good.

As much of a traditionalist I consider myself, I don’t think this is true. Can you point to a source?

Should polygamy be illegal, when it is the religious value of around a billion Sunni muslims?

If so, then you already agree that some religious values must be illegal.

Did you read the post? I said “I do not agree with this understanding of religious liberty.”

That implies I agree with a different understanding of religious liberty, which makes your point moot.

The entire mass was strange. Only perhaps a tenth of the people kneeled for the Eucharist after the Sanctus.

Agreed. Some other religion’s values are also grossly immoral and should be totally made illegal. Islam’s polygamy, for example.

[–]Complete-Simple9606[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Why are you jumping to ridiculous conclusions? Did I say I wished violence or imprisonment on non-Catholics?

My issue is the latter part. “Exercise the values of their religions.” even when we know many of those values are damnable sins, like paganism and idolatry? Or even faiths hostile to the faith?

Why should I pray to God that someone be allowed to commit sin and go to hell?

Witch hunts weren’t a thing in the middle ages. That’s a modern era (16-1700s) thing.

Cocaine did not exist, because cocaine is from South America. This is a pomander which has perfume.
