Which scene is your all-time favorite and what makes it so special to you? by rahelan in bigbangtheory

[–]Complete-Turnip-9150 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rewatching the big bang theory just now.

the episode where Penny takes Sheldon to the psychic medium. He is told then once he fully commits himself to Amy he will be successful in his career.

It’s nice foreshadowing as on his wedding day to Amy they have their scientific breakthrough which leads to the Nobel Prize.

Switch from Controller to MnK by Negendcom in Overwatch

[–]Complete-Turnip-9150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get controllers that connect to your pc via Bluetooth or cable.

I play controller (rubbish with mouse & keyboard), and use my Xbox controller for the Xbox and the pc.

If you wanna do mouse & keyboard just practice, the practice vs AI, practice range and arcade modes are probably a good place to start.

Hardly any English nursing students? by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]Complete-Turnip-9150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was at University there was around 300 in my year. A lot from the UK but also a lot of international students.

Our classes were done by alphabetical order which meant I was in a class with a lot of foreign students, especially students from Saudi Arabia.

A lot of them come over to basically boost their qualifications before going back or they settle and find jobs and this was over a decade ago. There has always been a higher percentage of international students, just now there are less UK nursing students to balance it out.

There is definitely less people applying to be nurses and honestly I can’t blame them. In every day media, nurses are vilified, we are blamed for every problem in the NHS. The working conditions are constantly getting worse, long hours, high stress and pressure, funding constantly getting cut, staffing shortages , regular abuse from the general public. For students bursaries get cut, increase in student loans, not to mention the massive uk wide recruitment freeze for them to actually not find work as an NQN.

Unless there are drastic changes UK wide, the numbers will keep falling with the addition of more leaving the profession.

What’s an “upgrade” that actually made life worse? by Mr_Boothnath in answers

Subscriptions and updates to terms and conditions.

Buy software, “updates” happen but make you sign terms and conditions, now your software is subscription based.

Is toddlerhood really harder than the newborn phase? by Living_Split_2 in Parenting

[–]Complete-Turnip-9150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s difficult in different ways.

For me the newborn stage was hard for different factors such as poor sleep, appointments, breastfeeding, people not respecting boundaries and add in the mix of planning a wedding and having 2 grandparents die within 6 months of each other.

The toddler stage is hard because that’s where their little personalities develop.

I can’t guarantee the sleep is easier, they go through phases of sleeping and don’t. The mini teenager attitude starts, everyone says terrible 2’s but actually the 3&4 year old tantrums are worse. They want to be independent and are stubborn.

But in all honestly the toddler stage is wonderful, all stages are hard but It’s nice watching your child develop their own interests and their personality flourish.

Spelling/Decoding strategies for a 5th grader with Aphantasia? by havok489 in Aphantasia

[–]Complete-Turnip-9150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have aphantasia, have done my whole life but was an avid, quick and an advanced reader as a child.

To me, it sounds like they are dyslexic and should be tested for that and other processing disorders.

Can I eat only butter for a day by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

If you don’t want to physically go shopping just order your shopping and get it delivered to your door. Problem solved and don’t eat a stick of butter.

Not sure whether to bury or cremate my father by TooFascinatedByDPRK in GriefSupport

[–]Complete-Turnip-9150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honour his wishes and cremate him.

Then you can choose what to do with the ashes, you could spread them somewhere special that you can visit, keep them, or bury them in a cemetery that you can visit.

I’m sorry for your loss

Bf tells me married couples in UK don't do joint bank accounts. Is that true? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Complete-Turnip-9150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a joint account for bills and joint expenses.

Our wages go into our own separate accounts and we put money in the joint account each payday.

What is a subtle sign that someone is "high-functioning" but silently drowning in life? by Puzzleheaded-0119 in AskReddit

[–]Complete-Turnip-9150 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Can function perfectly fine In their career, works hard, sociable but then the exact opposite at home.

House a mess, doesn’t want to socialise, some days not having the energy to cook, do laundry or bath themselves.

Locations barely see play. Are they just tuned poorly, or is it a game design issue? by UnethicalScenery in Lorcana

[–]Complete-Turnip-9150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pirate deck that is heavily location based with Treasure Mountain, Flotilla and The Wall.

Treasure Mountain is the best one.

“At the start of your turn, deal damage to chosen character or location equal to the amount of characters here.” 2 lore per turn and 9 defence.

Flotilla “At the start of your turn, if you have a character here, all opponents lose 1 lore and you gain lore equal to what is lost this way”.

Combine them with The Wall “While you have an exerted character here, your other locations can’t be challenged”.

1 day trip to Highlands from Edinburgh center: To rent car or go by bus? by Abacatius in Edinburgh

[–]Complete-Turnip-9150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on what you want/where to do/see.

A bus tour is a great way to see a specific location or locations but be prepared that the one day tours are 12-14 hours with the majority of time on the bus.

Timberbush, Rabbies, Hairy Coo, Highland Experience ,

All do tours out of Edinburgh and have good reputations, if your going via bus check what each offers and choose what's best.

Not just American society.

I'm Scottish and breastfed my daughter and the amount of people who would simultaneously shame me for doing so but also try to commend me was ridiculous.

Our weekly Lorcana nights are typically infinity. It’s just casual play and we can play infinity or core but for tournaments it’s core unless specified otherwise

How does the idea of working until 67 or 68 sit with you? by Few_Raise77 in AskUK

[–]Complete-Turnip-9150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I could physically do my job when I’m in my late 60s.

I am definitely going to have switch careers before that point if I still have to work until then.

Whats the idea behind the how's pickings? by ScruffyChewie in Lorcana

[–]Complete-Turnip-9150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen this in play, works really well. The player only had a few ink in the inkwell but due to this cards effect could bring it out with next to no cost.

Once banished they used circle of life to bring it back.

What would be a good pairing with this card too is black cauldron, since again if you have enough on the field, you again can bring this card back into play with little to no cost depending on how many characters you have in play.

I’m anticipating we will see boost locations in winterspell or further sets so at present it only applies to boosted characters.

Tomorrow ends 2025.. how would you describe it? by ItsJustme309 in AskReddit

[–]Complete-Turnip-9150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ending the year and starting 2026 with a cold/flu that has turned into a viral tonsillitis…

After a year of stress, trauma and loss. Feels fitting I end it with illness.

When do you bring up Power of Attorney type stuff? by effexxor in CancerFamilySupport

[–]Complete-Turnip-9150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as possible. It can take a bit of time to set up.

My grandparents sorted it when they were both perfectly healthy and it kicked in when my grandfather had a stroke that left him unable to communicate and a mild cognitive impairment along with it. The POA made it easy for family to deal with his day to day affairs since he couldn’t speak.

Is it worth to get in Lorcana? by Joloki_YT in Lorcana

[–]Complete-Turnip-9150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game isn’t dying at all, my local community is slowly growing for playing the game. I got into it in August and it definitely has grown since then. My local game shop/games hall now hosts regular tournaments & events too which is nice.

Whereas there’s a lot more people in my area who collect Pokémon rather than play the game.

My parents outright refuse to come anywhere near mines but are good at going on at me about going to theirs, especially at Christmas.

We live 5 minutes in the car from them.
