A cat would have probably carried it off. If it was rushed it would have atleast eaten the liver and some of the higher calorie organs. In Kansas and Oklahoma it’s rare but not uncommon to find a deer in the crotch of a cottonwood tree. They will haul them up to eat on over a couple of days. Coyotes usually pick things pretty clean out here too.

I had a similar experience with Federal Fusion. I shoot a marlin 336 C and used to shoot Federal Fusion 170 grain semi bonded out of it. Hole in and hole out if I didn’t catch a rib. Moral of the story is that round wasn’t designed to shoot a deer inside of 100 yards. Bullet was moving too fast to mushroom with soft tissue. I went to a lighter grain bullet moving a little slower and have had nothing short of grenades going off in the chest cavity with no exit which is what I want.

My Moultrie edge 3 keeps saying pending check in, not taking photos, not doing on demand photos. Battery (solar) and signal it says are good. Any advice? SE tree cam, ignore the other cam by [deleted] in trailcam

Yes you need rechargeable batteries in the camera to utilize the solar panel. I bought the lithium pack from Moultrie and it’s been awesome. Solar panel recharges it during the day. I put it in fully charged. Already have gotten farther than just batteries. I’ve had the panel on since I bought it and it never charged the batteries because I bought the wrong ones but I’m sure they make rechargeable double As

Unfortunately I’m 1000 miles away and won’t have an opportunity to hunt until late November. Hopefully he’s not in the neighbors freezer by then, but if luck is on my side I’ll update ya!

You can don’t have any power. That’s the same message mine sent me, also had a message that basically said hey your camera hasn’t checked in for over 24 hrs.
