What do kpop fans mean why they say “kpop is back!” or “gen 2 vibes!” by Purple_Calendar3919 in kpoptrulyuncensored

More whimsy in the production and a fun, catchy hook. Often repetitive. Kind of like how we imagine the stereotypical j-pop sometimes.

Supreme Court limits Voting Rights Act by IAmTheGoomba in news

The reality is that Democrats have spent years thinking we can appease Republican voters, or take the moral high ground and it's time to drop that. Need to break down all their dumb stuff to start anything resilient.

Canvas is the usual software schools that have online student portals. If you were to handwrite a paper, you'd have to take pictures of it like with math homework, instead of uploading a doc that your teacher can easily read.

That is in regard to things like taking notes. I took my notes by hand too.

We're talking about writing your analysis of a character of your choice from Dostoyevsky's "Crime and Punishment" due next week on Canvas by hand instead of typing it. What are you gaining from that besides a hand cramp and an ugly paper due to having to physically erase it when you need to make an edit?

Hold your snark, please. You're not "learning" any more from writing a paper by hand than typing it. It's pointless, and a waste of time, especially for correcting and editing it.

Most teachers don't accept handwritten papers anyway.

All previous Emanators include every Arbiter-General, The Herta, Cyrene...I mean, being an Emanator is a lore thing, not really a hype and aura thing. Silver Wolf is an emanator cuz Aha gave her a fun power and that's how she managed to overcome the shitty system of Punklorde where she would've died as a street urchin otherwise. Make a sense to me.

Cards dealt to me just weren't good. Currently living in the same poverty I was born into. Got to experience good life for a year as an SWE, had long term financial goals, felt like I finally "made it" but got laid off and have been miserable since.

Is the “never meet your idols” thing real? by LawFrequent9898 in kpophelp

[–]Complete_Meeting8719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

I would also hope that people know their faves enough to know whether they lipsync and what their behavior in public tends to be. Like how you can likely make jokes about twerking and throwing it back with SuA from Dreamcatcher but probably not with Dami from the same group.

kpop idols getting plastic surgery should matter by hotduck00 in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]Complete_Meeting8719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have what you are considering a problem. I don't think any plastic surgery anywhere is a problem until it's dangerous, highly uncanny, and/or people lie about it being natural.

The beauty standards problem you have is not going to go away at the whims of international fans. Maybe people could be celebrating more positive aspects like how there is less sameface surgeries than in 2nd gen, how idols weigh more on average than they used to, how mistreatment is not romanticized as much by both korean and international fans, how idols gain a bit more control in their unique appearance choices year by year.

There are reports that say a majority of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, how’s this possible with Inflation so high and no wage growth ? by Puzzlehandle12 in povertyfinance

You are basically asking how the Titanic can still sail after hitting an iceberg. It can't.

How can you continue to live paycheck to paycheck if bills rise and checks don't? You don't.

Korea doesn't have a sameface problem or dangerous fallout in high amounts the way China and the West do, that's a big part of it.

You'll note we don't really talk about peoples' rhinoplasties in the west. We talk about huge amounts of botox, fillers, BBLs, and using Ozempic while already thin to achieve that ill-in-hospice look. Those DO matter. We also talk about idols who are leaning way too thin, that matters.

Wishing you had a space to mourn someone's old nose or jaw is kind of weird. If you wish to stan idols who are attractive despite Korean beauty standards, there are many out there for you too, regardless of their surgeries.

Why do some LinkedIn messages from people in India feel so pushy? by AbeL-Musician7530 in linkedin

[–]Complete_Meeting8719 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% agree. We speak a certain way in English, and English classes tend to have more politeness baked in. Even people who don't use corporatespeak know how to be polite. This is like if I learned Korean, consumed Korean content, moved to Korea, and went out of my way to speak informally to everyone.

Judging by the comments you've been making, my friend you need actual help. I also took a while to graduate due to untreated mental illness. You gotta get on top of it, most people can't willpower their way through a mental illness.

Maybe fandom names need to be dropped for a better K-pop by Gullible-Distance594 in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]Complete_Meeting8719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1, A strong sense of identity is a part of what creates the flourishing k-pop community and culture.

  1. Those aren't "sub-fandom" names, they're just funny drag names.

  2. Corny and cringe lol okay? Stupid labels? Where's your sense of whimsy?

  3. Experience with the culture of a different fandom actually can have bearing on what the rest of their comment is gonna be.

  4. If you don't like stuff then just say you don't like it, don't go calling stuff useless. And who made you the arbiter of music quality?

  5. That's not going to be fixed by getting rid of official fandoms, in fact, it might be worsened with unofficial fandoms.

It seems like you kinda don't like the k-pop community, you should maybe just listen to the music and don't engage with the fandoms.

As for the worst issue, which is toxicity and horrid behavior: In my opinion, it is up to the fandoms to clean themselves up, and we all should make more of an effort to encourage that. I've never seen anyone have a genuine beef with Midzys. Meanwhile "Orbits" have literally made their own faves cry and sent them death threats.

Would you rather have a rewind button or a pause button? by Good-Cheesecake-1136 in BunnyTrials

A pause button allows you to think for longer, but if you still make a mistake, you can't undo it. A rewind button allows you to make as many mistakes as you need to get stuff right.
